Per FloWrestling, Casey Swiderski (141/149) from Iowa St is headed to Stillwater. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tagen bumps up a weight class (or two) next year especially given weight cut issues.

I think Swiderski is at 149. So unless Tagen bumps up 2 classes, he runs into him.

Tagen looks to me to be a little big for 141, but his major advantage is how strong he is. Not sure how that would work at 149, let alone 157.

I think Cael Hughes will be at 141 since he has a hard time cutting to 133. Tagen might have to go to 157 unless there’s a chance that Swiderski would consider going up a weight.

I think Swiderski redshirted this year. So he last wrestled 149 in 2024. Could he have grown. Sure. I would like to see Hughes at 141, and I could see Jamison at 149. But I am sure coaches have a plan and they know a ton more than I do about what is the best weight class for each of them. I do wonder if something is going on with Hughes. At times he looked really good.

Agree, Jamison may be odd guy out. We look pretty solid at most weights except 157 and 174 (assuming Lockett doesn't redshirt and goes 165).

Dee is still growing, talking to some guys that are pretty dialed in to Stillwater and OSU wrestling, they think that 165 will be too low for him.

He has a lot better chance of securing a spot than Teague Travis! Tagen looked pretty good in almost every match that he wrestled this year. Another year of development with David Taylor I think he can be really good for us!

I’m not sure about that. Teague wasn’t supposed to wrestle, came back from injury, went down a weigh class, and was 2 matches from AA.

Tagen looked good at times and at times struggled. He’s at a weight where there’s a logjam. Now that we brought in the transfer from ISU. Tagen will likely move up due to the weight cut. There’s a legit chance he could be the odd man out. It’s why we brought in David Taylor. He’s going to wrestle the best guys. Just ask Carter young.

Lots of things we don't know. First, is Siiderski now a 157 pounder. He wrestled as true freshman so, he is still pretty young, could have grown a bit. Second, unless Hughes beats out Jamison at 141, he is guy there. We don't know whether Siderski was added to fill a hole in lineup (157?) or just to add competition at 141 and 149 weights. Also, I think Hughes looks great and they should find a spot for him in lineup, but the coaches may be happy with Jamison at 141 and are looking to fill 149 spot.

My take is we have 2 holes. 157 and either 165 or 174, whichever weight Dee doesn't fill. If Siderski has grown and can fill 157, and they move Jamison to 149 and start Hughes at 141, we have 1 hole. And coaches may think Collin Young is really good and fills that hole.

Iowa got Bailey and Williams from Little Rock.

I look for them to pick up AJ at 197 and move Kennedy from 174 to 157.

If they can do that Iowa looks very good.

PSU picked up Rocco from Ohio State.

I count 7 former AA in portal. OSU, Iowa and PSU each picked up 1.

AJ is perhaps top guy in portal, but he is off limits for OSU. I don't see Volk at 126 from Wyoming helping us.

That leaves Stewart at 184/197 from VT and McNeil at 149 from NC, neither of which seem to fit our needs. One guy who is interesting is Facundo from PSU. Was top recruit but on bench at PSU. Wrestles 157/165, which is where we need help.

So unless some more guys go into portal, may be looking to guys in room. The problem is we have guys in room that are pretty good, so really needs to be a stud in Portal before we have any interest.
