The Texas Democrat Joe Rogan wants to run for POTUS

Betcha the DNC promised her something if she doesn't fight it.

Even though the better candidate won it's garbage that voters in what is her most important district had their rights infringed. In no way am I saying Talarico was involved and from what I see in him he was probably disgusted that it happened even though it was to his benefit.

Great news as of 0600 this morning the Texas news was reporting their plans to file suit which she stated in her remarks last night. I'm glad the votiing was big enough to prevent this. Crockett is a Dallas native with big vote numbers expected so there was definitely validity to her campains concerns. I'm glad this won't drag out and distract from the race against Paxton because he trounced Cornyn by a bigger margin than expected so that's going to be a tough race.

The only thing that looks shady from what I have seen is that 2 of the 4 counties with issues were Williamson Talarico's home and Dallas Crockett's home could be a coinscidence looks funny.

Talarico's camp was also expressing concerns yesterday priot to the poll closing time.

I'm so glad this isn't going to be hashed out in court.

I want to say again how well Crockett handled this at her watch party last night. I have never heard her utter a word that I didn't think she was maliciously causing drama to elevate herself. She was graceful, calming, stuck the facts, stated this shouldn't happen to reps or dems. She did a great job.

Explain Texas to me. Paxton trounced because it was expected that Cornyn would be near 50% and most of the non-incumbent vote will go to Paxton?

With the amount of sleaze coming out of Paxton it is mindboggling to me that he even gets his own family's vote.

It's mind boggling. You would think wife divorces you because you are a terrible human being wouldn't play well in Evangelical America but I guess it works better than only votes with MY president 99% of the time.

I had not seen that today when I went to bed he had a double digit lead and Cornyn looked like a guy who lost his best friend at a presse. I hate Paxton. That’s great news.

As far as explaining Texas……Texas was a blue state till a few decades ago. Texas has much more of a political legacy in LBJ and the Queen The Honorable Ann Richards, whom we should all wish was our President, than Abbot and Paxton. There is far more independent thinking in Texas among the populace than is depicted in its officials. The Dems run horrible candidates. Beto…..moron, Crockett blow hard. That’s why you end up with Ted Cruz. He doesn’t have to beat a common sense opponent he has to beat Beto who runs on the “I’m gonna take your gun” policy when every registered Dem granny has one on her purse. Abbot had 80% last I looked…..I won’t be surprised if he has more Hispanics votes Hinojosa in the general. Texas is a bit of an enigma culturally and that bleeds into its politics. That why a Talarico can make serious national ground if he can stay out of the national party machine. If Talarico can stay I love all my neighbors cause Jesus said to…..not your an idiot if you don’t agree with me….and not go full party line he has an unlimited future in Texas and thus a bright one on the national stage.

But Texas Republicans think they already have it won, due to Talarico's religious views as being too woke, for instance, believing that God is binary being neither masculine or feminine and is everything in between, that being against abortion isn't found in the bible and he is not opposed to transgender rights.

He has already flipped red counties. It’s going to be tough to win but don’t be surprised. This is the Dem all the moderates have been waiting for.

Texas Senate race by the numbers.

-2,252511 Democrat Primary votes for Senate
-2,108,301 Republican Primary votes for Senate.

In 2024 only 967,503 Democrats voted in the Primary. 2,239,958 Republicans voted in the 2024 Primary.

I agree it will be a tight race. The GOP candidates both have baggage and Talarico is definitely better than Beto.
But now that he has cleared the primary he needs to drop his multiple quotes statements about “6 sexes”. Some of his quotes will be immediate attack ads against him.

He isn't going to win or lose on attack ads......people that listen to those decided who they were going to vote for before candidates announced. There is tremendous momentum behind Talirico. I work for a company that burbs fossil fuels and says grace before company meetings…..you wouldn’t believe the folks that will discreetly say “I’m gonna vote for him too”.

Don’t underestimate how fed up sane people are with the rhetoric of both parties.

You do realize it’s still a runoff between Cornyn and Paxton, right? Neither reached 50% of the vote. My theory is the GOP wanted a runoff and got Hunt to run so the vote would be split 3 ways. This allows them to see which Democratic nominee they are running against, and then choose to put their efforts behind the Republican candidate who matches up best.

Which one matches up best in your opinion? Seems to me like one is crazy and one is old but has the incumbent advantage.

Cornyn vs. Talarico. Paxton could lose a lot of moderate Republican voters, and would definitely not pull any moderate Democrats. If Crockett won, they’d probably want someone who would get in the mud and sling it everywhere. Paxton has shown he is willing to do that gleefully.

I don’t think it’s that complex but could be wrong Cornyn is old Tex Republican and a known commodity. He served state before he went fed. He has a lot of Austin behind him as Paxton is hated there.

Paxton is easier for Talirico to beat in my opinion….as you said moderates won’t support him. I could make an argument for the overall good the best outcome of this primary is Cornyn/Talarico as the Rep will probably win and Paxton is a non starter for me. He is all that is wrong with politics in this country.

What’s interesting is neither are racking up endorsements. No one is excited about either of them within their own party.

I don’t underestimate at all how people are fed up by GOP and Dem establishment. That gives Talarico help. He is definitely young, smart, and appeals to populists. And I do think he has a better chance versus Paxton than Cronyn.

I didn’t know much about Talarico until recently…and still really don’t. But there are many of his past comments that are getting exposed now (some very old) that run against the thought he is a moderate. Attack ads do work, that is why candidates use them.

Sounds about right to me.

Side note: I had a door knocker come by our house last week asking if we would be voting and then if we would support Greg Abbott. I told him yes we would vote, but not for Abbott.

He asked why. I asked him how much time he had, then rattled off a long list of reasons. I then brought up Talarico and the guy replied, “I REALLY ALIKE Talarico.” I cocked my head and squinted in disbelief. But he seemed sincere.

That interaction gives me hope that people are really tiring of politics as usual and Talarico’s message is resonating beyond Democrats.
