They had a Buddhist preach from their pulpit. That's why I had a problem with it.

The Prophet Elijah called upon by God Himself once summoned
All the People of Israel to gather at Mount Carmel

He then invited 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah. Two Pagan God's to speak to these people, show them their religion and worship and ways in order to prove their God's were real and more powerful than Yahweh.

THE hand Picked PROPHET OF GOD invited the ENTIRETY of what the Bible refers to as the Chosen People Of God to basically a giant church service where ~1000 prophets from two other religions attempted to show the People of Israel why their Gods were better than Yahweh.

Then they held a contest over some bulls or something....blah blah blah.

There is Biblical precedence of inviting prophets and teachers of other religions to speak in front of followers of Yahweh.

Now they did round up all the prophets of Baal and Asherah after and killed them all after they spoke...but they did invite them to speak and teach .

It is a time honored tradition for followers of God to Publicly interact, listen to and challenge with leaders of other Religions

It all depends on what was preached. There are probably plenty of things that could have been said that you probably wouldn't disagree with as there
is some overlap with some buddhist and christian teachings.

Most buddhists do not worship buddha, FYI. Its not the point of it at all.

#1 this assumes Talarico was there. I couldn't find any info saying he was. He is currently a Texas House of Representative Member

I have an issue with #2. I've found I've been able to talk so much more richly and openly with people of other religions...not by telling them why they are Wrong......but by showing them that the grace, blessings, and peace they feel...doesn't come from the source they think it comes from...and that it is actually coming from God.

This is what is Wrong with Christianity today. Telling Others their beliefs are Wrong, instead of showing them they have believed in God the Entire time and misplaced their blessings as coming from some non existent deity and then showing them the scripture and allowing the Holy Spirit to open their eyes, hearts and Minds and come to learn the source of their Blessings, peace and Grace was from God all along.

I'm not here to speak for @Fl_Poke, and I'm not here to change your mind, but as a Christian I would have a problem if my church had a Buddhist preach from the pulpit. Specifically because of John 14:6, I think it would cause unnecessary confusion. However, this would in no way, shape, or form prevent me from be friends with or cooperating with a Buddhist.

You are assuming too much. Like I said, I don't really have a dog in this fight. I just said your examples were poor/not even close to the same situation. In both instances you provided Elijah and Moses/Aaron were there to prove someone wrong. I don't think Talarico's church invited the Buddhist there to prove them wrong.

The competition is noted douche bag and walking scandal....current leader on the GOP side...of whom if my ex and satan had a baby I would vote for the baby Ken Paxton. And Talarico is trailing attention whore zero substance Jasmine Crockett by 11 so I dobt it matters. The incumbent is Cornyn who is exciting as missonary with the lights off and been in office too long.

My prediction is Crockett wins the primary and loses to Paxton.......which is sad because I think Talarico has a punchers chance against Paxton. Talarico has a common sense non screaming and yelling approach to governance based on logic. Crockett screams dumb shit to get on TV. Talarico could swing moderates away from the scandalous Paxton.....Crockett will not. I'm in that boat Talarico wins the primary I'll try to vote twice if Crockett does I'll stay home. Paxton v. Crockett would be like deciding which side of the face I get punched on.

Respectfully, you don't man the pearly gates and it is stuff like this that makes me glad I am not a Christian. For many, its just an elaborate ego game to justify beating people over the head who are different/think differently, while giving divine approval for ones own unexamined opinions. Zero introspection, critical thinking and humility involved.

That's unfortunate. So the one person that makes the most sense as a senator isn't going to make it out of the primary because the person that yells the loudest will knock them off. But the person that yells the loudest can resonate with more people in her party but less with people likely to vote candidate over party. So we end up with another idiot in the senate because of that.

But hey the guy that makes the most sense can fundraise like a mofo so despite having the best candidate the party in question is fine with this outcome. Because they get 6 years (and probably another decade more) to fundraise off defeating said idiot even though they know it's going to be next to impossible to defeat an incumbent once the idiot is in office.
