Syria

There. Seemed weird this story isn’t here.
I didn't feel like starting a thread on it as I wasn't sure if people cared much but I've been watching it a bit.

Looks like the US just did a big set of strikes on ISIS camps in Syria and warned countries to not let ISIS fill the void in the area.

Who’s HTS?

"The commander whose militia first emerged as an Al-Qaeda affiliate broke ranks with the jihadist group in 2016 and has been trying to polish his image since then. For years, he's sent conciliatory messages abroad; now he is reassuring Syria's many minority communities they have nothing to worry about."

I remember reading an article this morning saying he was former Al Qaeda but not a religious puritan and much softer since he broke away.

I'm very unsure how this is going to go. Chance of good, chance of very bad.

He was in US detention for 5 years as well. Maybe he’s one of ours now?
