Slavery was good for the enslaved, Concentration Camps were good for the Jewish. Fox News doubles Down

Fox News doubles down on new Florida provision on teaching slavery. Apparently Concentration Camps run by the Nazi's following a WRITTEN plan that detailed how concentration camps were specifically designed to destroy the entire Jewish race.....per Fox News...weren't that bad for the Jewish people in them. They were just learning Survival Skills.....just like slavery was teaching Job skills. This is INSANE MADNESS these Morons are spewing

The White House condemned comments made by Fox News host Greg Gutfeld during The Five, as he was discussing slavery and new teaching standards put in place in Florida.

On Monday’s show, Gutfeld was reacting to fellow panelist Jessica Tarlov, who holds the liberal seat on the show. She was talking about the new Florida curriculum, which has drawn heavy criticism for a provision that students be taught that slaves developed skills “which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”

Tarlov said that she was “fundamentally uncomfortable” with that provision, and said that it was similar to someone pointing out that Jews in concentration camps during the Holocaust “learned a strong work ethic.”

Gutfeld then pointed to Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning, and how he talks about “how you had to survive in a concentration camp by having skills. You had to be useful. Utility kept you alive.”

White House spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement, “What Fox News allowed to be said on their air yesterday – and has so far failed to condemn – is an obscenity. In defending a horrid, dangerous, extreme lie that insults the memory of the millions of Americans who suffered from the evil of enslavement, a Fox News host told another horrid, dangerous and extreme lie that insults the memory of the millions of people who suffered from the evils of the Holocaust.”

Fox News did not comment.

Gutfeld’s remark also drew a statement from the Auschwitz Memorial, which said that a comment like Gutfeld’s was an oversimplification that should be avoided.

“While it is true that some Jews may have used their skills or usefulness to increase their chances of survival during the Holocaust, it is essential to contextualize this statement properly and understand that it does not represent the complex history of the genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany,” the memorial said in a social media post.

In the White House statement, first reported by CNN, Bates said, “Let’s get something straight that the American people understand full well and that is not complicated: there was nothing good about slavery; there was nothing good about the Holocaust. Full stop. Americans deserve to be brought together, not torn apart with poison. And they deserve the truth and the freedom to learn, not book bans and lies.”

This is just stupid/silly pandering from both sides. Did SOME blacks benefit post freedom from skillsets they learned during enslavement? Sure, absolutely. A very limited few were even allowed to make extra money on the side with those skills while enslaved to somewhat better their tortured existence. But mentioning that one trivial yet true fact in the overall context of abhorrent slavery is not excusing the institution. One of the things my kid learned in school a year or two ago was that Thomas Jefferson’s cook introduced Macaroni and Cheese to the colonies while he was a slave as part of their Black History Month studies. That tiny ( But kind of cool) factoid didn’t detract from their very thorough overall discussion about slavery and that it was a black eye that the US will never get rid of. Wayyyy back in the 60’s when I was in grade school, (in a Northern state) we learned almost nothing about slavery that wasn’t slightly covered in learning about the Civil War. There have been just monumental improvements in that today in schools in every state! There’s going to be political pushback from the left that will argue anything done by Florida is racist as long as it’s a Republican state that would be completely overlooked in a Democrat run one, even if they have to reach really far to find it. This is one of those times.

Animated Frederick Douglass calls slavery a ‘compromise’ in conservative group’s video

Slavery was a compromise. The Black Lives Matter movement led to more crime. Masculinity helped win World War II.

Those are some of the lessons included in PragerU Kids videos, an educational entertainment program created by PragerU, a right-wing advocacy group long criticized for its content being “misleading” or factually inaccurate. Its videos have prompted even more backlash online since PragerU CEO Marissa Streit announced last month that the group is partnering with the state of Florida as an education vendor to provide supplemental lessons

The words above were written by Char Adams --- it appears she is not aware of the "Missouri Compromise". The Missouri Compromise is US History and should be taught.
Ths is from the same writer who two weeks ago proclaimed that the woods are racist and that there is "trauma related to being outdoors". And that there needs to be "safe spaces" for camping.
Haven't seen the videos, but suggest taking the opinion of Char Adams about the videos with less than a grain of salt.
