Season is drawing near

First pitch is in a few weeks

OSU was ranked #19 in one preseason poll I saw.

Meylan #26, Rosie #82, and Hasler #92 were ranked in D1 softballs top 100.

But no Karli Godwin.

To me the chance to go back to OKC comes down to two things:

1) Can Godwin become the superstar at the plate that she was expected to be?

2) is there a pitcher, probably Crandall, that can win 10-15 games and give Meylan some occasional rest?

Call me a casual fan but man I do not know much about this team…
Godwin, Davis, Hasler, Warsop, Timm, Schneidmiller, McDonald, Graf, Meylan, Crandall back amongst the veterans.

Losing Edwards at 3B was of course killer, Davis may move there.

Indiana tranfer Melina Wilkison should start in OF (she lit us up in regional last year). Expect Jones sisters
to play a lot of infield. Ga Tech transfer Maya Booker had a good fall in the OF.

Thanks COB, you know the kids. This is just an AI response:

Unless we picked up pitching, man.

ok state softball - will they be any good

Oklahoma State softball team is expected to be a competitive, nationally-ranked program in 2026, aiming to return to the Women's College World Series (WCWS) after missing it in 2025. They enter the season ranked No. 19 in the D1Softball preseason poll.

Team Outlook
The Cowgirls are coming off a 35-20 season that ended in an NCAA Regional Final appearance. While missing the WCWS for the first time since 2019 was a disappointment, the program has consistently been a top contender under coach Kenny Gajewski, with an expectation that not making it to Oklahoma City is a letdown. The 2026 team features a mix of experienced veterans and an influx of new talent via the transfer portal and a top-ranked recruiting class, which is expected to address some of the consistency issues from the prior season.

Key Players & Transfers
  • Pitcher Ruby Meylan is a key returner and D1Softball preseason Second Team All-American who posted a 1.84 ERA and 243 strikeouts in 2025. Finding pitching depth behind her is a key focus for the team this season.
  • The lineup's primary power hitters, including infielders Karli Godwin and Rosie Davis and catcher Amanda Hasler, are returning.
  • Notable transfers include outfielder Melina Wilkison (Indiana) and infielder Jayden Jones (Virginia Tech), who are expected to make immediate impacts.

2026 Schedule & Challenges
Oklahoma State faces a challenging non-conference schedule, with over half of their games against teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament or finished in the RPI Top 75. They open the season at the Stanford Invitational from February 5-7, 2026, and will compete in the competitive Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational. Big 12 play will also be demanding, with top teams like Texas Tech and Oklahoma expected to be dominant. The Cowgirls have a single Bedlam game against Oklahoma scheduled at Devon Park in Oklahoma City on April 9th.
The goal for the program remains the same: a trip to the Women's College World Series. With promising depth and key returning talent, the Cowgirls have the potential to meet these high expectations.

Somebody tell ChatGTP that OU is in the SEC now. Otherwise sounds about right.
