Carbon trapping in oceans is directly linked to ocean acidification. When CO2 dissolves in seawater, it reacts with water molecules to form carbonic acid (H2CO3), which then dissociates into hydrogen ions (H+) and bicarbonate ions (HCO3-) essentially "trapping" the carbon in the ocean as dissolved carbonic acid. BTW, acidification leads to coral and other ocean life death.

Essentially we need to reduce our CO2 output not just try to shove it into the oceans.

I thought it was interesting with the caveat that there are definitely tradeoffs in this scenario. When I come across articles and studies like this, I enjoy stopping to peruse, and sometimes continue down the rabbit hole. It was definitely a good article and I'm not poo pooing it. Just wanted to bring up a side point.

I am really not sure how much the increased uptake causes acidification, I just know it's a thing. It could be fractions of a pH point for anywhere that matters, I don't know. Probably depends on how localized the interactions are and how much the currents spread it out.
