Portal Recruiting and Roster Updates

We really need Clary to spearhead that leadership role. I was impressed with his comments in post games last year. We will be really young and he needs to do his part in getting those guys to buy in. In my opinion he is the the most important part of the team next year. If he can do a good job facilitating and defending it opens up a lot for this team.

Side note: there are some absolute athletic freaks on next years team. Allmond, Natt, and Felesi all have bounce that looks effortless.

I can’t wait to see what Coach Lutz does with this group of players. After what we’ve been through since Eddie left, it’s almost sheer disbelief that we could have the #1 recruiting class in the Big 12 and the #4 recruiting class in the entire country! I believe Coach Lutz has what it takes to make the most of this influx of talent! I can’t wait to see it this next year!

Ideally, still needs at least one experienced big that can be part of the rotation. Wouldn't be surprised if the last three spots go to some combination of international players and developmental types as roster filler.
Totally agree I love the potential of our big guys, but they are still young and unproven. A big who has shown he can get it done would help round out this roster very nicely 👍

I do agree this is shaping up to be a great recruiting class. What is it about Coach Lutz's coaching style for the past 2 years that makes you believe he has "what it takes"? This past season, I believe his style was to outrun and outscore the opponent (try to score 80 pts) but there was little focus on defensive effort and out-of-control offense which led to a losing conference record and playing in the NIT.

If that is truly his coaching style, we will be in the NIT again. I'm a little skeptical to his coaching style based on what I've seen the last 2 years.

Leonard Hamilton was one of the best recruiters in our program history, but it took a real X and O coach like ES to get the most of the talent. A winning team has play both ends of the floor.

I'm no expert but it did feel like we underperformed our talent last season. That could be due to a number of factors we'll never know about. I hope this new group has the work ethic and chemistry to be really good.

We definitely under-performed this year. If we win two more games though, we would have been in the NCAA, that's how close we were. We had a couple huge collapses where we let double digits lead slip away (TCU x2, Iowa St., Houston at home), laid a couple eggs (OU, Tech game 1, and the Arizona road trip). Lutz is close, and he's getting more talent. I really think he takes us dancing next year.
