I'm posting 247's updates on the portal. They do a good job of keeping score.

Vyctorius Miller and Isaiah Coleman are going to help us win games.

Getting pushed further down the bench so they both leave. Don’t blame them or Dow. They were getting closer to the med staff than the coaches. None of the 3 were up and down guys, step slow and not consistent shooters. No big loss. Like what I’m seeing from Lutz. Will be interesting to see us find another 4 and 5 and probably a 3rd PG in case one gets hurt

Hoping coach hits a home run before it's done. I thought Dow was playing well toward the end of the season, but I think you are right about playing time.

These reported NIL deals are insane. JT Toppin at Tech, $4 mil? Rob White to BYU for $3.5 mil? There’s no way they should be making more per year than a mid first round pick in the NBA.

College football and basketball are now ruined. Everything that was great is now gone, never to return. I can't stand professional football and basketball. I used to really enjoy watching college basketball and football because they felt more authentic—players competed with heart and passion. I enjoyed watching their progression throughout their college eligibility. But now, money has ruined it all. They're chasing paychecks, and both sports have become one-and-done (basketball leads but football will eventually getch up in yearly transfers)

I've never been so disinterested in being a fan of collegiate sports. It's a bummer, really. Actually, it's sad.

But before you had 50 thousand people in the stands and coaches making millions of dollars and able to leave anytime they wanted, while the actual workers (players) were stuck and made nothing. That's why colleges created the category "student-athletes," so that they wouldn't have to consider athletes as employees. Of course, that was unfair and untenable also. I expect we'll eventually see the courts get involved, regulations, and eventually colleges will create funds that will pay athletes as employees. This craziness is because the mission of many colleges is now lost. For a lot of people, the purpose of colleges is not to educate but to win games.

Exactly, everyone else was making so much money besides the players. That south park episode was great.

Gundy had it right when he said they need contracts. It’s why pros aren’t year to year free agents. With some formalization coming from the settlement I’d like to see these payment deals be at least 2 year contracts or for them to have provisions that make transfer every year less attractive. But maybe the coaches/gms like the benefit of also being able to push players out who aren’t performing year to year.

A little perspective on contracts: Walter Alston spent 19 years in the minor leagues as a player, coach and manager. He played in two innings in one major league game, with the St. Louis Cardinals at the tail end of the 1936 season, and struck out in his only at-bat. Eventually he became the manager of the Brooklyn & then LA Dodgers for 23 years from 1954 thru 1976. He won over 2,000 games, seven NL pennants and four World Series, and he was named NL Manager of the Year six times. By his own choice, he signed 23 consecutive one-year contracts as Dodger manager.

I think we need contracts for players. I think players should have the option of a 1 to 5 year contract. Do yo love the school and think you are getting a good deal take the five year contract. If you want to bet on yourself and think you can get a better contact in the future pick something shorter.

Should schools that lose players receive compensation for developing the player? This might also make schools think twice about taking a transfer. Do we want the player and have to pay additional money to the school he is leaving?

If the players are going to be treated as employees they have to have a contract. A public entity in Oklahoma has to execute a contract with an employee before they can be paid.
