Poke bourbon

I have noticed that quite a number of bourbons do not list their years of aging. I have been told by
a retail liquor store employee that aging bourbon at least five to six years separates a lot of average bourbons
from the better tasting bourbons. The employee also recommended the 94 to100 proof bourbons for drinking neat.
I am searching for your opinions on these recommendation.
