Far-right influencer and informal Trump advisor Laura Loomer fired intense, damning criticism of the Trump administration for gifting Qatar an Air Force base in Idaho Friday afternoon.

Remember kids, “America First” means Trump took a $400 million bribe from Qatar—then signed an executive order saying an attack on them is an attack on us, and let them build an Air Force base on American soil.

Please stop with the claim they built an AFB on American soil. They are building a facility on one of our existing military bases that is used to train foreign militaries. This is the exact same AFB that Singapore is using to do the exact same thing.

Im not a fan of the influence Qatar is buying with the current administration, but if this is the case, is this really that big of a deal?

I'm not worried about the facility so much as how they got the influence to pull it off

And the Sec of Def had to release a separate statement of clarification on what he was announcing because is was super confusing

I think the better question is has this been proposed before and was it denied for some reason, or is there a reason to not like this other than the other things going on with Qatar? They have purchased fighter planes built by our nation. Having allies in that region is better than more enemies. I'm not seeing how having joint exercises with an allied nation who uses their money to buy our products and their servicemen will be here purchasing things in our economy is a bad thing. But, I'm willing to hear specific concerns.

Use your own link to define “they” and be very specific because the subject is the government and military of Qatar.

Now, look at our nation if you were a Qatari and were skeptical. https://muslimadvocates.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Timeline-of-Record-of-Bigotry.pdf

If that is the best you’ve got, I’m less concerned than before you responded. Maybe “they” should be concerned associating with us.

They are Al Qaida and lots of reports ..not just from the US that say Qatar was / is their funding source

Connections to Al-Qaeda affiliates

Al-Nusra Front: A U.K. Parliament report from 2018 stated that Qatar had "a history of either paying or helping facilitate ransom payments to Al Nusra". In 2015, the U.S. State Department reported that entities and individuals in Qatar were financially supporting terrorist groups, particularly regional Al-Qaeda affiliates like the Nusra Front. This was corroborated by the Wall Street Journal in 2012, which noted that Al-Nusra commanders were visiting Doha to meet with Qatari officials and financiers.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP): A 2017 analysis from the Counter Extremism Project alleges that the Qatari government has supported AQAP. One of its partner charities, the Qatar Charity, is also suspected of working with individuals in Yemen linked to AQAP.

Taliban: Qatar has maintained diplomatic and economic ties with the Taliban. A 2025 analysis from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) highlights that Qatar has funded the Taliban, in addition to other groups, for foreign policy purposes.
Individual financiers: In 2014, the U.S. Treasury Department named former Qatari Interior Ministry official Salim Hasan Khalifa Rashid al-Kuwari as an Al-Qaeda financier, alleging he provided hundreds of thousands of dollars to the terrorist group.
Allegations regarding Qatari institutions

Financial institutions: Lawsuits have accused Qatari financial institutions of facilitating terror financing. A June 2021 lawsuit filed in the United Kingdom alleged that Doha Bank and Qatar National Bank conspired with Qatari officials to launder money for the Al-Nusra Front.

Qatar Charity: The Qatar Charity, a large non-governmental organization, has been linked to the U.S.-sanctioned Union of Good, a network accused of providing financial support to Hamas. Israel has also designated the Qatar Charity as an unlawful organization due to this connection.

Broader context of terror finance allegations
While Qatar has signed agreements with the U.S. to combat terror financing, the efficacy of these efforts has been questioned. Critics argue that the Qatari government's motivation to address the issue has been inconsistent. Allegations of Qatari terror financing extend beyond Al-Qaeda and its affiliates to include groups like Hamas and the Islamic State (IS).

I agree that we do not invite anyone that is financing terror to Idaho. I also do not think we should have Islamophobic American people on the base in Idaho. Given that what you have given me is evidence of PEOPLE in Qatar that are pro-terrorism and I have given you evidence of PEOPLE in the US that are Islamophobic (but more evidence of ties to the current administration than you gave), we really haven't shown a single thing about either government that matters.

You got a date for that report? Because, what it says about the government is that the systems were not robust in stopping financing, not that the government funded terrorists like Iran. The only dates I see are 2017. So what? What is the present state. That is what matters.

Then it is a crap report as it only uses info from 7 years ago.

And this is the first line of their recommendations:

POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS

The first step the United States should take should be to reaffirm the U.S. government’s willingness to work with Qatar on counterterrorism through shared initiatives and cooperative frameworks.
