If we hired Saban tomorrow, how the heck do you even begin to address this mess? Do you spend $20-30M on a team of 3 star talent? I mean seriously we will have to replace 75% of this team and pretty much become a first year D1 team

Kinda depends on who you hire and what the situation is there.
As I mentioned in another thread, the portal is now leading to players following their coach to the new school. So you get some immediate continuity with coaches and players which theoretically gives you a leg up on some of the teams we now see needing all of September to start to gel.

Think Riley/Williams, Arbuckle/Materr. Cignetti brought like 20+ guys from JMU to Indiana. Utah’s OC/QB came as a package too-it’s working pretty well.

The Eric Morris/Mestemaker possibly is intriguing to me for sure. Forget his name, but the guy who took over for Cignetti at JMU is worth a look imo. Came to JMU from Holy Cross, lost the bulk of the team to transfer, and he’s got them on the verge of the CFP in a couple of years.

You're right. I also think Zane's skill set is best suited to an air raid approach that would minimize the OL deficiencies but I guess we're not going to try that.

Not sure his reads are fast enough for the air raid, but agree it would suit this oline since they struggle to block and hold blocks.

Agree. The evaluators are key and the reason improvement has occurred in basketball and wrestling. Football failed because those evaluating could not tell the difference between a donkey or horse much less a thoroughbred.

Hard to say since the first two are never open anyway!
