OSU in Big 12 Tournament

Dean has 7 steals and 3 assists. He's too inconsistent but he's the only one that I really hope stays around.

Serious question - What do you see from this coaching staff (style/decisions) that makes you believe we will ever finish in top 8 in the league and make the NCAA tournament?

Improved record this year compared to last year, with last year’s team having quite a bit more talent.

Speaking of talent, he doesn’t have a lot on this team. He certainly doesn’t have the athletic players he needs to run the type of defense he is known for. I am not sure OSU has a defender that can consistently contain a guard on the dribble drive. I haven’t seen much of that this year on defense.

How many OSU players would start for another Big12 team? Probably Thompson and maybe Ousmane.

We don’t have a coaching problem, Lutz has a talent problem. Hopefully the university provides him with financial resources to get the talent he needs.

This. Ousmane is responsible for his actions and is perfectly capable of controlling himself. These college players are essentially pro athletes now with NIL. He needs to play like it.

I agree, but we have no chance without him. Eddie doesn’t let that happen.

I don't disagree with you but the player has more responsibility in that situation than the coach. They both screwed the pooch there.

We missed a lot of lay ups this year due to a lack of athleticism. At times our lack of playmakers was so obvious. I will give Lutz credit for insisting that we go to the bucket even when the results were not what we wanted. The ball has to go in the air sometime on offense. I appreciated that over the desperate late three point attempts.

24 TO's now, at what point do you just start benching the players and play someone else? This is absolutely atrocious.

We have been really good at getting to the foul line which is a very key stat, we have forced a lot of turnovers.

You can see that they are being taught a style of play, and when they are locked in they can do it pretty well.

I'm seriously still trying to look for hope on what this coaching staff emphasizes other than selfish players. That's why we are bottom half in all team statistics and below .500 overall. I was expecting to see a coaching staff commit to a style of play and demand that effort from the players. Instead, he rewards the same crap of play for players that should have their a$$ on the bench. If we're going to lose at least demand discipline.

Not %. Getting to the line. We lead the Big 12 in FT made and attempted. They are coached to do that.

I agree I'm disappointed in the effort, or at least the inconsistency . I think he's a bit handcuffed this year. He has too many guys in their final season that figured out this team was going nowhere around mid-December and they only locked in when it was convenient. That area needs to improve. He's alluded to it several times.

I don’t disagree. I’m hoping a lot of what we saw this year from a discipline standpoint is a result of the roster build he went through.

If we just continue to churn through 1 yr guys Lutz’s style won’t result in wins. This will essentially be the 3rd straight rebuild.

I remmeber Tony Allen getting some Ts, as well as Byron Houston.

We all knew that this would be a tough year in the paint in particular, but it still doesn't feel good when the top 6 highlights are all the other team getting dunks/flushes/slams/blocks on your team.

That is fair. I just feel like he made zero effort to stop it. The deck was heavily stacked against Lutz. They waited too long to make the hire and h was left with scraps.

I see a lot of problems with this team. I have to say that when I saw us earlier in the season I was thinking more like 12 wins. Today’s game excluded there was some progress. If I were putting a letter grade I would give Lutz a solid B.

Agreed but don't think that can happen under the current system. With the NIL money actually coming from a collective and not the university. But the coahces/university definitely need to have the ability to impact that b ased on performance.
