No alcohol, no sex, no caffeine, Provo. How does BYU have 16,000 fans at a basketball game vs a terrible OSU team? Looks like a Kentucky game 10yrs ago
BYU is a good team, but they're not that good. The ROI is not impressive. So another program with a billionaire guy spending his money on an NBA coach, securing a foreigner projected lottery pick then buying the #1 prospect (the supposed next LeBron) for 3.8 million $. Man college sports are sickening
It's the risk/reward calculation from giving weak side help on the drive.BYU tried to give OSU the game in the second half. Credit the Cowboys for the first 8 minutes of the second half. Getting the lead down to 3 was impressive. However, the inconsistency cost them of any serious chance of winning. Can’t play 8 minutes of good basketball and expect to win.
I don’t understand how you leave all those three point shooters WIDE open throughout the game. I am confident the coaching staff drilled this into the players head all week, yet they left those shooters open consistently. Just bad basketball.
Probably. Still, you'd like to see Coach pull them together into a team that plays really well all 40 minutes. As I think about it, this season is really meaningless. Of course they're not going to the postseason, and we knew that going in.
But, how many of these players will even be on the team next year? Maybe a couple?
It's just a space filler until Lutz can get some talent. Keller is getting better, so maybe that's one thing that we can get out of this.
Yes. They're very far from that. I'm not sure they have enough talent to make that happen.Probably. Still, you'd like to see Coach pull them together into a team that plays really well all 40 minutes.
Does it take talent to read the defense, take care of the ball, and work for a high percentage open shot for 40 minutes?Yes. They're very far from that. I'm not sure they have enough talent to make that happen.

This team does manage to get a lot of layup attempts and shots in the lane, which shows some sense of execution...but they have shown they don't have the talent to finish that shot consistently enough.Does it take talent to read the defense, take care of the ball, and work for a high percentage open shot for 40 minutes?
Honestly, I know we don't have guys who can put it in the bucket as often as players on other teams, either from a lack of work or talent. (I once heard a very successful person say: I may not be the smartest person in the room, but I won't be outworked.) We can work for good shots every time down the court. Any team can do that. That doesn't take talent. This team does manage to get a lot of layup attempts and shots in the lane, which shows some sense of execution...but they have shown they don't have the talent to finish that shot consistently enough.
For sure. But I think in the middle of some of those stretches we also miss some very makeable shots that would make those droughts seem way different.Honestly, I know we don't have guys who can put it in the bucket as often as players on other teams, either from a lack of work or talent. And we've shown we can do that. We just forget to do it for long stretches of time, for some reason.
Couldn't stand Diff-EQ. Had a Chinese TA that no one could understand and he would dart out the door at the end of class. About midway through the semester people would surround him so he couldn't leave. I had to teach myself in that class.Perhaps we shouldn't overplay every guard every time they touch the ball, thereby giving up drives to the basket on every possession. If we didn't force every weak side defender to make the risk/reward calculation on every touch of the ball, perhaps they could do better calculations and occasionally get a few of them right.
Same formula I used to get through differential equations.
He's a fantastic shooter!!!!They played so hard early in the year and with much more confidence.
It's almost as if the guys from smaller schools see the writing on the wall about their (lack of) ability to compete at this level.
Also, isn't Connor Dow supposed to be a shooter?
