Glad to get the W. I think our offense got too stagnant with the big lead. Fouls were very one sided during Seton Halls comeback which hurt us.

Definitely need some work on the half court offense, but so much overall improvement from the last few years! It’s fu n to watch!

Brantley says in postgame that the zone really caught them off guard, they had not seen zone on film.

Looks like we know something that will be covered in practice this week. Other teams will definitely use it against us now

Brantley is getting more trust from Lutz. He will be the leader. I like that after the game he immediately knew what went wrong.
Lutz will get the zone addressed. I don’t think we should be worried. We have good shooters and most of the time good spacing.
Bigger issues were 2nd half defense and backcourt pressure.
Defense was a focus issue. Again that can be coached and fixed.
We did not handle backcourt pressure well and this wasn’t the first game for that. Looks like Brantley is really the only A grade ball handler. Dean and Davis get sped up and then Thompson, Newman and Chi Chi are average at best. Once the ball leaves Brantley we struggle. I think we’ll see more token pressure that can be turned up every few possessions depending on players, tempo and momentum.

That is an amazing stat but says A LOT about Steve Lutz!
This is why we are improving.
This is what I expected. My 8 year old really has started to like basketball and he went to the OSU basketball camp this summer (Lutz hadn't been here a month at the time I think...). I took him every day and stayed; it was obvious then that Lutz was going to run a tight ship. The guys seemed to really get along well together for no longer than they had been here too.
They’ve earned some more people in the seats. If I lived closer I’d be at every game. They’re playing a style and with an IQ we’ve been begging for for over a decade.
They play smarter and for me, they're held accountable. That last part is a HUGE change for the positive.

We may well win a number of games with good coaching. I think that will be true. I also think our talent level does not compare with many of the Big 12. I am hoping that we think about talent levels versus coaching as we view Lutz first season,

They'd have to play at home for that to happen. I'll be at Bedlam this weekend, but it's kind of weird to me that hey've only played 3 home games so far and it will be almost a month between home games.
Dec. 18. I made the mistake of showing up in Stillwater on November 18, so over a month.
