Oklahoma is going backwards

As someone who's been too lazy to change their registration away from Republican, who do you guys want me to vote for in the primary? I think they all suck so I don't mind proxy voting for ya.

I decided to change to republican this year with the idea that I would vote for the most reasonable one in the primaries.

Obviously, I did not think that plan through very well. Maybe in other races there will be a rational republican but now I'm not counting on it.

This is exactly what I did after Tally lost to Jenkins in the OK House in our district in the primaries.

My hope is that the candidates are counting on the MAGA’s to only pay attention to their words. Right now we have the equivalent of a 5th grade class president election. Everyone’s promising pizza for lunch and 10 recesses but no real plans on how to get OK out of the ditch

If everyone that says we will never elect a democrate would vote for the democrate there might actually be enough since like a third of Oklahomans are all that vote.

As long as OK has straight party voting at the top of the ticket it will be an uphill battle. We need a SQ to get rid of that as well as some other reforms.

In 2024 something like 70% of voters checked that box. It’s lazy. But as long as one party dominates as the Rs do they have no incentive to change it.

I thought about doing the same, but decided against it based upon me predicting exactly what you have said to likely be true.

Plus....I just couldn't convince myself to have ANY association with the party of Trump whatsoever....for any reason.

Got enough signatures (about 200,000), but Stitt's Secretary of State disallowed almost 30,000 of them and it failed to advance.

I remained registered as “unaffiliated/independent” and Dems didn’t open their primary to Independents this year, and Republicans have never opened theirs.

pretty sure you can change your party affiliation online, vote, then switch it back, if so inclined...had a friend that did that all the time - not sure if they still do...

Given the party in power has such a benefit in certain situations like this, the state questions really should have an outside auditor.

I don't want to affiliate with the same party as Trump....even temporarily.

Also, I think the deadline to do that for this primary has passed.

Not sure this is 'going backwards' but it's Oklahoma and entertaining watching the right eat their own. And yeah, this acct blocked me a WHILE back (hence the shaded buttons and why I can't share the post). Just another right winger that can't handle having their opinions challenged.

Eh, I'm used to it. One of my sources of entertainment is arguing with flat earthers on there and the venn diagram of right wingers and flat earthers when it comes to snowflakiness is often times a circle. They never want to actually defend their positions, they just want their echo chambers to like and retweet it.
