Oklahoma is going backwards

McCall boasts that while he led in the Oklahoma Legislature that it became the 2nd most conservative legislature in the country. But he has little to show to boast further about. With Oklahoma ranked so low in various quality-of-life categories, it only shows the Oklahoma brand of conservative policies suck. Red states outside of the South excel over Oklahoma, including even Idaho, which has also been in the news before for extreme Christian right views. Indiana is ranked 8th for education while Oklahoma is ranked 50. Neighboring Kansas is no. 33.

Speaking of McCall, it's good to see the often-running ridiculous AI ads against him for failing to be anti-transgender enough finally end.

I see his ads about being against transgender and while I think that stuff is really weird, it's not on my high priority list of things that need fixed in our state. Not that my kid sucks at math or anything, but he is more likely fail math than chop his wiener off and act like a girl.

When Brad Henry was governor, we were 17th in education. Why don't we just go back doing what we were doing then? Why do we have to try and out conservative everyone to impress people outside of our state?

Yep. I don't know what the answer is but it's not a red blue thing. Like Townie said there are plenty of red states that do just fine with education and if you look at the bottom New Mexico is right there with Oklahoma so it's not like voting for democrats automatically makes your schools better.

How was funding for education a couple of decades ago? Teacher pay sucks and I know that was going on when he McCall was speaker. I have no idea what it was like some time ago but maybe not running good teachers off to states that pay better is a good place to start.

LOL I was just re-reading my post and I called the former Gov Brady Henry. It's Brad Henry from Shawnee.

Brady Henrie is a young steel pedal guitar player for Colter Wall. He's from Vegas but lives in Tulsa. Nice guy. Very talented on the steel pedal.

All round classic mix up.

I just assumed it was an auto correct fail. I ducking hate it when that happens

TROOPER IMPERSONATION: The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is searching for a suspected police impersonator who stopped a young woman on the Turner Turnpike near Stroud Tuesday.

This is such a scary situation. I know the young lady this happened to and she is understandably shaken. She says a man driving a Nissan Titan with rooftop-mounted light bar had been driving beside her before getting behind her car and turning on flashing lights. Having been raised to follow the law and respect officers, she pulled over. She says he was wearing a brown uniform and hat. He told her he was with Oklahoma Highway Patrol, but didn’t have a badge, name tag or patches on his shirt. He didn’t ask for her ID and asked her to get out of her car to look at something on the back of the vehicle. Her instincts kicked in and she refused to get out. That’s when she says the man became agitated and grabbed to door handle, but thankfully the door was locked. The young lady, quickly rolled up her window and grabbed her phone and pepper spray. She says when she did that, the man ran back to his truck and sped off.

OHP says troopers are actively and aggressively investigating this and looking for a black Nissan Titan with a rooftop-mounted light bar. If you have seen a vehicle matching this description, call the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Central Communications Center at 405-425-2323.

OHP says if you believe a police impersonator is stopping you, dial 911 immediately to confirm the legitimacy of the stop. When safe to do so, take note of details such as the vehicle’s color, markings, license plate (if possible), emergency lighting, and the individual’s clothing or badge.

Troopers say law enforcement officers understand public caution and will always prioritize your safety.

Mullin is a busy man

If our laws were just, this would get a Senator prison time.

Response from Jasmine Thomas who is running for Senator in 2026 from Oklahoma

Markwayne, I saw your post about 2025 taxes but a couple of these points need clarification so people aren’t misled.

➡️ There is no “Trump Account” on your federal tax form. That’s not an IRS designation or box you select.

➡️ The Child Tax Credit still exists but the expanded 2021 version is mostly no longer in effect as originally passed. So it’s not a new benefit on 2025 taxes.

➡️ Tips and overtime pay are still taxable income according to IRS rules. There’s no current law that makes them fully tax-free.

➡️ And I couldn’t find any enacted law that automatically gives everyone earning $50–$80K a 15% tax cut this year, that part sounds like a proposal, not a fact on 2025 returns.

A LOT of people are confused about taxes this time of year, so clarity helps. If you’re trying to support working families with tax relief, that’s great but we should be sure we’re sharing accurate info that matches IRS tax code, not political branding or proposals that haven’t become law yet.

This IS not conducive to the economy and the people who are paying taxes. Stop misleading the Oklahomans.

It seems characters like Mullin want to serve the gullible, in effect preying upon them for their votes. But I wonder how often it is the gullible serving the gullible.

Felony charges filed against former Rep. Ajay Pittman, legislative assistant

Published WED JAN 28, 2026 12:02 PM CST

State Rep. Ayshia “Ajay” Pittman announced her resignation from the Oklahoma House of Representatives on Wednesday, just hours after the Oklahoma Attorney General filed felony charges against her and an executive assistant in the Oklahoma State Senate, Trena Byas.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the constituents of House District 99,” Pittman said. “From the first day I took the oath, my commitment was simple: be effective and do the work, put people first, and make a difference. I am honored to say that my service in the office was effective as a local and national policy collaborator who handled our day-to-day governmental affairs.”

Pittman has been under scrutiny since mid-2025 following a settlement with the Oklahoma Ethics Commission over the alleged misuse of campaign funds.

According to court documents filed Wednesday, prosecutors allege Pittman was involved in a forgery scheme that included creating a fake cashier’s check to deceive the state and transmitting it through a computer network.

Pittman and Byas are each charged with:

Conspiracy to Commit a Felony
Second-Degree Forgery
Violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act
Prosecutors allege Pittman falsified and submitted documents to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission while she was already operating under a settlement agreement related to improper campaign spending.

Court records reveal a series of messages and an email exchange between Pittman and Byas that occurred on the same day Pittman allegedly submitted the fraudulent documentation to the Ethics Commission.

According to the filing, Byas — an Executive Assistant in the Oklahoma State Senate and owner of GraphixByUs, Inc. — allegedly received instructions from Pittman to alter an image of a check. Investigators say Byas used a computer to modify the document before sending it back electronically. Records also note that Byas previously worked as an assistant finance manager for Pittman’s mother.

The messages were uncovered during search warrants executed at Pittman’s State Capitol office and her Midwest City home as part of the Attorney General’s criminal investigation into possible campaign finance violations.

Search warrant affidavits from October 2025 outline an alleged scheme in which Pittman provided the Ethics Commission with a fraudulent $2,500 cashier’s check, dated January 27, 2025, from Sovereign Bank, as proof she was making payments toward a $35,000 restitution agreement. Investigators later confirmed Sovereign Bank never issued the check.

During the searches, investigators seized:

Four laptops, three iPads, and multiple iPhones
Flash drives, external hard drives, and bank statements
Documents from Sovereign Bank and other financial institutions
Investigators reviewing bank records also flagged questionable campaign expenses, including two Vizio televisions, a laptop purchased at Best Buy, and clothing and dining purchases.

The Ethics Commission told investigators those expenses appeared inconsistent with legitimate campaign use and mirrored spending patterns tied to Pittman’s prior ethics violations.

In a separate incident detailed in court records, investigators say Pittman emailed the Ethics Commission with a letter claiming campaign records were destroyed in a flood at her office. Metadata from the Microsoft Word document allegedly showed it was created on her mother’s computer the same day it was sent.
