Official - Eric Morris is the new OSU Coach!

Revenue yes. There is no question the Big 10 schools have more money than Big 12. Plus Penn State is by far the largest state school in their state whereas Iowa State has the University of Iowa to contend with. In addition Penn State can fit about 40K more fans in their stadium per game-assuming both places are at full capacity regularly that's a lot more dollars they can generate on Saturdays.

I was just talking in terms of NIL potential. Iowa State has a fairly large regional draw and benefit from land grant schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin being in urban environments (moreso Minnesota). Basically they are going to have a bunch of fans/alums who farm and although that doesn't create billionaire donors, it gives them a large alumni base who have been doing pretty well the last couple of decades and are probably ok kicking in a few bucks to the program. Im guessing both with their large alumni bases are equally likely to have a huge booster or two who can throw in real money.

I feel like ISU has a bit of an advantage based on location. There aren't any pro sports in Iowa-they are rooting for either Minnesota or Chicago teams generally but are kinda free agents when it comes to general pro sports loyalty. The two biggest population centers in Pennsylvania have multiple pro franchises-its basically like our basketball team before and after the Thunder showed up, only twice as bad for football because you have two historically great teams in the state.

TLDR: from a pure financial standpoint Penn State is better. In terms of NIL its probably a wash with one being better than the other depending on general fan interaction and that could go either way IMO
Rivals NIL Rankings;

PSU. #13. $76k/ player
(ahead of OU, USC, Miami

OSU. #42. $ 36k/player

ISU. #58. $22k/player

2025 enrollment;
PSU 86k
ISU 31k

The budget and NIL are both bigger at PSU. It’s a fool’s errand to think they’re not.

Yep. I'm surprised to see people on here compare the resources (not to mention the football traditions) between the two schools. That's the main reason James Franklin was fired. With that much backing, he should win big games. But he's shown repeatedly that he cannot.

If the question is whether Campbell is a better football coach than Franklin, I don't think anyone can really answer that with anything beyond speculation. If Campbell gets hired at PSU, we'll definitely know the answer to that in two or three years.

Iowa State's athletics department is facing a projected $147 million budget deficit through 2031, averaging about $24.5 million per year. This financial challenge stems from factors like the Big 12 conference realignment and the NCAA revenue-sharing settlement in the House v. NCAA case. In response, the department is implementing budget cuts and cost-saving measures, including postponing major renovations to Hilton Coliseum and shelving a new wrestling facility.

Now that might be the reason for Campbell to want to leave.

We are getting a new wrestling training center. Iowa State isn’t. What does that tell you?

I think the larger, troubling trend we’re seeing is that coaches deals and buyouts aren’t getting smaller, and coaches are getting less time to build something enduring, so the coaching turnover is increasing, which brings more and more buyouts with it. And then the new staff gets paid.

The cumulative effect of this is more and more $$$ being spent in a time when most athletic departments don’t break even.

Athlete revenue share is going up and it won’t be long until they ask for more.

Watching Morris & NT in the American championship, early thoughts;

Those Tulane uniforms are pretty sweet.

UNT RB Hawkins-who visited OSU-out with injury, coming back now.

After an initial TD drive, Mestemaker under a ton of pressure since.

Rainy weather.

Go Mean Green! Great opportunity to see Morris handle momentum changes in a CCG he’s playing in the rain, on the road

Crappy officiating. How could the ref miss that interfering with the opportunity to catch the punt?
