LED Court for Big 12 Tournament

I complained to the wife through our 2 games about players slipping and sliding on that friggin' court. I kept waiting for the refs to make a traveling call when a guy's pivot foot was dragging/sliding, then realized they couldn't call it because it was happening on every possession. I have no doubt the refs were instructed early on to ignore the slipping. It really affected Clary's ability to get to the basket; same with Roy, though he was big/strong enough to play through it. I kept waiting for the announcers to mention all the slipping, but became convinced the conference had muzzled them. I was really surprised we didn't see a major injury.

I’ve heard them reference it multiple times while I’ve been watching.

This will be another instance where the Big 12 tries something new/different & gets made fun of, then we look up in 3 years and everyone is using these courts. Regardless of how I feel about them, the possibilities are pretty apparent.

I have to believe there will be effort put in moving forward to see if they can develop a more suitable surface with the same technology options for display purposes.
Seems like someone can figure out how to take what they tried & make it more grippy.

I thought this was a pretty cool conept when I first heard about it and thought it looked pretty cool with some of the graphics they were using while the game was not in play.

Exactly, & obviously ad sales.

In the run up to the tournament I heard that they used the court last year to trial it. I wouldn’t think it’s a big leap to improve the traction aspect of it.

I know Yormak and the Big 12 have taken some heat on this topic. But come on, I think they deserve credit on this one. They tried something innovative and new, it created some buzz. It didn’t quite work out, Yormak and the league listened to the teams concerns and they reversed course. To me, that’s pretty good leadership. They tried something, listened to feedback, and corrected course.
