Large scale strikes on Yemen

Looked up the Houthi people of Yemen and if Trump wants to strongarm them, I'm not going to lose much sleep over it. It looks like they are backed by Iran and using the Israeli Palestinian conflict as an excuse to conduct terror operations.

The Houthi have been attacking commercial shipping going through the area for well over a year (don't remember when they started but it's been quite a while).

I'm not sure yet how these compare to previous strikes we've had on them.

So this is something that is business as usual from at least the Biden administration but Trump is trying to take credit for it?

Sigh. I don't want to be 100% against everything Trump does just because it's Trump but he isn't making that easy.

Edit: I haven't followed anything about Yemen but vaguely remember we were doing something there at some point so my opinion on "Trump good/bad" on this is pretty open to suggestion at this point

I don't know a comparison at this point for scale but we have had a carrier and its escorts here a lot the last couple years and I know they did a few strikes after some attacks on the CSG.

At this point I would call it business as usual with the caveat that it might be more, too early to tell.

Attached Wikipedia page about past strikes on Yemen. Most are targeting UAVs or other specific targets in a form of "self defense", but there are larger strikes as well.

It’s still going on. Originally 72 hours. Since news is 50/50 on truth in the region, not sure if it’s been prolonged for much longer. Lots of Trumpatteling on this. He said if the houtis take a shot at our carrier, it’s the same thing as if Iran took the shot.

I saw yesterday that Israel had made claim they had shot down Houtis missiles which were fired into Israel in response of the large scale attacks in Gaza that killed 400

So US hit them really hard in Yemen and the following day Israel went after Hamas in Gaza

I'm not sure what his goal is with that statement. They are GOING to continue to continue to try and hit US ships. What is our response to Iran after that happens?

I'm guessing it was planned that way. Isreal wanted out of the ceasefire, we wanted to bomb Yemen more. I guess the thought was to tie the two together... don't know.

Here I am 10 days later and it’s still going on. Now with a squadron of our stealth bombers close by and a second carrier group heading in.

Apparently, today, the houtis got one through in Tel Aviv. Who knows what’s true anymore but videos show smoke bellowing in an open field.
