ISU @ OSU

Really disappointing effort today. The Cowboys were clueless on both offense and defense when it mattered.

I was convinced the defense would improve as the year moved on, but that clearly is not happening. I don’t see how they make the tourney. I will continue to cheer them on, but this is a very disappointing conference season to date.

Next year is do or done to me with Lutz. Two years in he’s teams do not look well coached or motivated. Don’t care how well you recruit or how many stars they have, that has to change next year, no more excuses.

Good news is his contract is reasonable for a change and won’t break the bank if he’s not getting it done. He was on a 5 year, 3mil per year, so if he’s not getting it done in year 3, that shouldn’t be an issue. I’m still hoping for the best but honestly very discouraged by what I’ve seen.

For those of you that listen to the post game radio broadcast, I’m curious on your thoughts of the format change this year with Kendal interviewing Dave and then going to the locker room for player interviews with John.

It's fine. I don't really mind either way.

Jalen Curry postgame:
"We've got to come out and be more locked in. We have to know our defensive assignments and game plan that Coach gives us. We have to take film more seriously and get tougher."

When you only get 11 rebounds in a half, that's lack of effort. I'm not arguing that they are WELL coached, but Lutz has had lots of success before, he didn't just all of the sudden forget all of that.
Lutz has 3 years of HC"ing prior to our AD hiring him. We had just gotten rid of a great man, buy one with no experience. I pulled my rather sizable donation because of that. I had to be convinced that firing Boynton was in the nest interest for the OSU basketball program. I rejected that because he's a damn good man. Sometimes you have to make decisions based on what you see on the court. While we have a decent class coming in, while ranked 10th, there is only one player who has any hope of providing an impact year one.

I'm not a fan of Lutz. Never have been. He was the wrong hire.

He also assisted unded Matt Painter, Greg McDermott, and and Matt Doherty. Had a good resume. Whether Lutz ends up being the right hire or not, letting Boynton go had to happen. We all loved MB but being a good man without good coaching doesn't equal wins. What was going on the court was repeated losing.

Why would you not support the guy that we hired just because it went against your opinion?

Also, I don't see why all 3 of our 4 star commits couldn't help next year.

I agree it doesn't look good right now. But its too early to just write it all off.

I just hope that we can keep all of our commits. With the NIL and NCAA what they are, who knows?

I'll restate what I said against TCU, yes he had a burst in that game, but Isaiah Coleman does not have D1 offensive skills.
Wrong. He averaged 17 a game last year, at Seton Hall, in a major conference, at the D1 level. He’s just a bad fit for this offense. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective. But that’s Clary and Curry’s role in this offense. And IColeman hasn’t been effective at all playing off the ball.

Latrell Allmond is a top 25 national recruit. Thats absolutely the type of player that can make an impact year one.

Miller leaving people wide open to start the game and leading to at least 2 - 3ptrs and trailing 9-2 within 2+ minutes. I like the kid but he looks completely lost on Defense. I couldn't prevent myself from watching him do this all game.

It seems Lutz is adverse to using the bench to get the level of play required. His job is his to keep or lose! For the program one can only hope he figures it out but he should not get the latitude given to the two previous coaches.

I just heard the one on Tuesday and thought it was a student interviewing Dave, maybe as some sort of partnership with the journalism school. It was a little awkward because the questions and comments had very much positive spin, and Dave had to do a lot of “Yeah but” and “that’s true but” after the loss. Maybe it was just she had scripted the questions with the lead by 7 with 3min left…HA. At least in football, I always thought Dave and John do a pretty good job of giving an honest assessment after the game. And then here comes Robert…
