What would it take to get an NIT bid?Can we win 2 of 3 and have a winning record?
Then win a first round Big 12 game?

Not wrong,This group does not have the athleticism to pressure the ball like Lutz coaches on defense. They get beat, give up a drive to the lane for the pitch out to a wide open three.
I have been surprised Lutz has not had them back off that ball pressure at some point this year. It would make their defense much better.
We would have to play the remainder of the games at GIA. Ha! I always said that Eddie would have had multiple National Titles if we could just hold the NCAA tournament at home.Heck, let’s win out.
I think even that is going to be tough. They changed the criteria last year and its kind of complicated. If you're a regular season conference champ and you don't make the tourmanent, you're in the NIT. Top 2 SEC and ACC teams (why?) not selected for the NCAA tournament make the NIT. Then they just fill in what's left based on a huge mix of computer rankings. What would it take to get an NIT bid?
If you win out, win 3 tourney games to go 20-14. Would that be enough for the big dance?I think even that is going to be tough. They changed the criteria last year and its kind of complicated. Our NET is around 100, probably went up after last night. There would be a lot of teams ahead of us.
No, our shirt still says NCAA Hate MeIf you win out, win 3 tourney games to go 20-14. Would that be enough for the big dance?
Doubt it.If you win out, win 3 tourney games to go 20-14. Would that be enough for the big dance?
Agree. January was worse than I expected, but February has been a marked improvement.I still have questions about Lutz but have to remind myself that I said 15 wins would be a success for this team. We are on that pace. It probably has more to do with style than actual coaching when I think about it.
That being said I will give Lutz and this staff credit for player development. This last month we’ve seen the best basketball in 5 yrs from Bryce. His tendency to force has gone down to maybe 1-2 times per game and I would bet his +/- reflects that. His points and rebounds seem to be up. His vision has always been good w the pass and we seem to be seeing more of that. If Bryce had this staff 3 yrs ago he would be much farther ahead. Still not NBA but he could make a decent living overseas.
Ousmane and Dean are also better than they were at the beginning of the year. Keller is improved as is Dow. They both seem to have hit a confidence wall. Dow doesn’t even look for his shot off screens.
If we can keep Dean, Jennings and Keller and they improve those are 3 solid B (Dean might be even an A if his 3 point becomes more consistent) players to build around. Get 1 guy who can go for 16+ every night and this team could make the tournament next yr. I think Lutz can get a couple of serviceable bigs.
I wholeheartedly agree. I like that we have a style it’s just the style will take me a while to come around to.Agree. January was worse than I expected, but February has been a marked improvement.
Isn't "style" the same as coaching, somebody has to teach it right?
And I'm thrilled we actually have a style and an identity that can be pinpointed. It's been a while.
A question I had was whether Coach would get the most out of this group and I think he came pretty close at different points in the season. Consistency has been a real issue with this team. But it still feels like we're in good hands and our future will be solid, but a lot will depend on how well Coach performs with raising money and recruiting new players.I still have questions about Lutz but have to remind myself that I said 15 wins would be a success for this team. Any ideas how much our roster payroll was this year?A question I had was whether Coach would get the most out of this group and I think he came pretty close at different points in the season. Jennings is more like a B+ or A- guy. Don’t forget, he was a starter on a Tech team that went to the tourney as a 4 seed. He isn’t a star, but he does everything right.I still have questions about Lutz but have to remind myself that I said 15 wins would be a success for this team. We are on that pace. No idea. I've never seen a dollar figure. One big donor could make a huge difference.Any ideas how much our roster payroll was this year?
I think he is way underrated and doesn’t get enough minutes. Part of that is bc Chi Chi can get hot and reallly put pressure on a team. If Jennings can develop a consistent 3 where Lutz is comfortable w him taking 2-3 a game like he is w Ousmane then combined w his ability to drive the ball and attack the rim he can be a 10+ and 6-8 rebound a night game and really cause problems. Kind of a poor man’s Joey Graham.Jennings is more like a B+ or A- guy. Don’t forget, he was a starter on a Tech team that went to the tourney as a 4 seed. Thanks for the info. I read that as to what we paid for 23. I had heard for 24 we were north of $4.5MM which is probably still not great. No idea. I've never seen a dollar figure. One big donor could make a huge difference.
Gundawg said the football team spent $2.7 million on NIL, which is pretty dismal compared to other serious football programs. You'd think Gundawg would beat the bushes and find more money, but I think he's far above that sort of thing.
