ICE

I don't do outrage. I certainly wouldn't be for it just like I wasn't for opening the border wide to get votes.
If every American were against that we wouldn't be in the position we are now.
Do you have any idea and not a google search or chat gpt query, but an actual idea of the time, cost and sacrifice that it takes to become a naturalized citizen?

I do. It's not easy. I don't believe it should be so expensive and time consuming. But with the sheer #'s who have been allowed I don't see the process becoming any easier.

Do you guys mind if we actually get back on track and add substance? Even just a little, please.
Sorry man, I just don't have it in me to ignore his personal attacks. I've tried.

So if it’s very costly and very time consuming how are undocumented immigrants going to all of a sudden vote?

By the very nature of being undocumented they have exponentially decreased the likelihood they would ever be naturalized and earn the right to vote.

The whole notion is a calculated boogeyman created to manipulate people. Congrats!

I’m on the f**k ICE side of things and I don’t think “illegals” is problematic at all.

The context matters. As a word no, but using it to denigrate a certain group yes. I think it turned into something because saying illegal alien or illegal immigrant is too nice of a thing to say for someone you want to demonize. And we all know that if someone says illegal they aren't talking about someone from Western Europe. It's becoming a dog whistle imo.

And it's not just a right wing thing. Every time someone on the left uses latinex I get the same vibe.

First it was the word "aliens" added. I've made a conscious effort not to use it because it seemed to trigger some people. Now they've moved the selective outrage to "illegal".
I guess we aren't supposed to bring someone who is in this country without citizenship into the conversation in the "ICE" thread...

How do they get a CDL?

Who was voting on a wide open border? Can you give me any evidence that mistake was done in order to get votes?

They can't legally. But up until last year no one really cared (except for other truckers).

I understand what you are trying to say but I don't know that it's a fair comparison. If anything people looked the other way to the point where it was encouraged because lower freight cost=cheaper goods. Personally when booking freight Ive never thought to question the immigration status of a trucking companies employees, just gone with the best rate for the best service. No one asks if the fruit they buy in a grocery store was picked by someone with a green card so it's not like that segment of the economy is unique with people not asking questions. Voting is 100% different. People have been turning who can and can't vote into a political issue since the Italians weren't considered white enough. You can't equate a few hundred jobs that no one pays attention to to hundreds of thousands of votes.

You are losing your own argument. To Democratic leaders.

Obama, Bill Clinton, Hillary, Schumer, Pelosi, and Sanders have all used the term illegal immigrant multiple times.
Maybe because, unlike the right side of our country currently, he actually has his own opinion and doesn’t look to party leaders to give him guidance on what he can think.
