That's the thing, with this administration there's someone for everyone to hate for their own reasons. RFK Jr. is destroying public health. i hate him.

The thing that makes him most hateable is that there are things about public health that most of us in mainstream healthcare agree with him about. The US food supply is a mess. People are not active enough. Everything that ails you cannot be fixed with a pill. People should be involved in their own health.

Instead of building on those areas of agreement, he went right for the BS crap like vaccines, seed oil/tallow, fluoride, food dyes* etc. He wants to prove he can win battles more than he wants to improve health.

*no, I don't think food dyes are likely healthy. But, their input in our health issues is miniscule vs the other stuff.

Absolutely people should be involved in their own health. I was just talking with a patient on Thursday who has achieved an A1c under 6. He thanked me. I told him that all I really did was provide the tools, he did the work, that he was highly motivated and that was 90% of it. I wish I had 1500 patients like him.

But there ARE meds that decrease cardiovascular risk and SOME people should be on them. We know that a few classes of antihypertensives decrease the risk of stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and kidney disease when used to treat hypertension if we achieve targets. We also know that statins decrease cardiovascular risk. The benefit in secondary prevention has been known for a long time and more recently we have become more certain of benefits in primary prevention in high risk populations. We have DM meds now with both cardio and renal protective effects. Yet this idiot continues to sew antipharma distrust.

I can’t tell you how many patients I have here in Northern Michigan that say they don’t trust big pharma but they smoke and apparently trust big tobacco.
