Hauss due back soon?

I have a bad feeling he’s going to opt out. He’ll likely be eligible for a medical redshirt which means he has no incentive to come back if his plans are to leave the program at the end of the season.

He has a grand total of 3 drives worth of tape against a FCS school. He should probably stick around just to help himself be more marketable if he decides to leave.

Plus you gotta remember, businesses decisions are made but at the end of they day they are kids who enjoy playing football. Maybe, he wants to play this year because sitting out with an injury sucks and he wants to get back on the field.

No doubt! Nothing screams ‘come back & play this year!’ like the prospect of getting your head kicked in weekly on a team heading for a one win season!

Nothing screams D2 offer like a 3rd year freshlan with no tape.

Some of yall just live with a rain cloud over your head.
lol, okay life coach.

I hope he plays and gives us something positive to build towards for the next regime, but I also live in the reality of today’s landscape. Any other school would completely understand him not coming back to play this year, it wouldn’t be some stain that dooms him to D2 at all.

Its not him taking the medical redshirt. Its the lack of film at the college level. Right now all other potential teams know about him is that hes faster than defenders on an average FCS program. If you are a SEC school are you dropping 6 figures on him knowing that or are you looking at some kid like Drew Mestemaker? If he comes in and looks good the last half of the season maybe that evaluation changes.

Well sure, I agree. You went from D2 to a six figure SEC deal.🤪

Starting QB's aren't going to transfer to another school for free. High P4 schools aren't going to spend on untested talent when there are plenty of G5 guys who have solid tape. The D2 was hyperbole but he isn't going to find a better situation (assuming we don't stay Kansas circa 2015 bad) without people wanting to know what he can do.

Why do you want him to sit and transfer so bad?

Put the shovel down man, good god.

Did we spend on him? I believe so. If he chooses to sit-foot injuries can linger-do you want him back at OSU???

There’s a fence post calling your name here.

To be abundantly clear to you and your zeal to paint anyone who’s not gumdrops and rainbows here, I hope like hell he comes back and balls out and we have a lot of positives going into next year. It’s amazing how you can take something completely innocuous and turn it into a crusade, Kyle.😉

What point are you trying to make in all of this?

Because it seems like you are arguing for the sake of having an argument.

Hauss is one of the fastest QBs in Div 1 right now, I assure you he does not need to play another down to get offers from other P4 schools.

How much interest was there for him last year?

And if we were the only place he seriously considered, was it because of Meach? You make a good point about his speed alone generating interest so Im curious if you have much of an idea about what his options looked like last year before we knew much about him.

I’m not sure what his interest was before this year, TCU kept him pretty far under the radar, they did not let him throw a single pass in a game so I think there was still some questions on if he could actually play QB or not. Not that he lit it up in his one quarter of action throwing the ball but he showed that his arm is viable. I’m not saying that Miami is going to pull up with a truckload of money but there will be lots of good programs searching for mobile QBs at the end of the year. Whoever the next head coach at OSU is needs to do everything he can to keep him here because if you don’t have a QB you have no chance, and a good QB can turn around your whole program quickly.

Understandable

Like I said, my thing is why spend the money on unproven talent when you can look at FCS and G5 guys who have a year or two under their belt and look the part already. But yeah, in an age where money seems to be no problem for some all it takes is a program or two and he's gonna get paid no matter where he ends up after this season.

And yeah, I would love to keep him and if it takes cash then cool-hopefully we have it. But I would like to think no matter what happens the next coaching staff won't go into next season with questions at QB.
