Interesting perspective from a former GA at OSU.

I love the ideas he’s putting forth, but I just don’t think anyone has any authority to make the Haves get on board with changing the system that they control and benefit from.

It’s looking like the B1G is close to signing a private equity deal, despite tOSU & Michigan’s objections, that’ll provide every school with around $140 million. I think the PE group gets 10% stake.

I think it’s safe to assume that others will follow. To me it’s a slippery slope of mortgaging the future to plug the holes in your current budgets.

The PE firm has backed off on the deal since those two schools objected.

Can we not have this crap during the season? There should be windows where it is appropriate and where it is not.
The entire calendar is completely screwed.
Stretch run of the season goes on, while coaches are being courted, signing day is 12/5, & the portal window is during the playoffs.

We got here one step at a time, but this is the most broken system in college or professional sports and it ain’t even close.

We wouldn't be complaining about the new model of talent acquisition if we were active in the process and did it well.

With today's current NIL environment and mainstream acceptance of gambling fixing college sports has never been easier. Used to be you basically had to be in the mafia. Now anyone who has a little cash and the right connections on discord can get a player to fudge some random stat and no one is the wiser.

Probably true, but not exclusive of the idea that it’s severely broken.

I still think it’s crazy that the school poaching a player owes the other school absolutely nothing. For god’s sakes, there are years upon years of a model for this in the pros. It’s not exactly rocket surgery.

The fact that it’s not even a topic just further illustrates the fact that the power schools, not the organization, dictate what matters.

Could you imagine if schools had to pay the previous schools retribution based on stats? Players signing non-competes (in conference)? How much does Alabama owe Georgia Tech for Jahmyr Gibbs? Plus don't allow the old school to release the new school from retribution. Retribution is mandated. No more playing nice.

You could do it to coaches too. (Bill Belichick and Sean Payton are NFL examples). I know there are contract buy-outs in college, but they seem a little light compared to the money being thrown around.

This dude gets it about the CFP rankings show, & the committee. If you watch the show, the logic they lay out is as bad as it is in this article.
They’d be well served to just release the rankings because in trying to explain them they just create indefensible positions like Team A has better losses than Team B, even though Team B beat Team A, but we can’t use the head to head here.
