I think it’s because they mistakenly and dumbly equate the country with the President…..essentially just like MAGAstanis.

You can (and I think you have been) very vocally anti-Trump BECAUSE you love the US.

I’m certainly in that exact camp.

I get where you are coming from, but our "country" elected this administration and our current congressional contingent into office. One can say many are regretting their vote, which is true, but the country put these people into power.

They also put the most milquetoast, cowardly and lame democrats into power too. I agree with the majority of enlightenment ideals, but we need a new tact to try to see them come into existence. We cannot just have negative rights, but positive rights too.

A while back @steross mentioned that libertarianism makes a lot of sense until it doesn't. I agree and it is because libertarians are obsessed with negative rights and pay no attention to at best and oppose at worst, positive rights.

Barack Obama got a lot of heat when he said that America's promise was unfulfilled. But he was right when he said that.

Agreed that it inherently antithetical to American principles. They however are by definition, American citizens, so you can’t logically argue that the Administration may be fascist but America is completely anti-fascist.

Many of our fellow citizens are being complicit with, supportive of, or complacent about the rising tide of fascism. I view what is going on right now as a battle for the soul of my country. I also think it is existential in nature.

So here is the Kicker for me.

I KNOW Trump is going to discredit the Mid Terms

I KNOW Trump is going to try to claim some National Security Threat and cancel the Mid Terms

I HOPE that fails.

I then KNOW that Trump will try to run for a 3rd Term. He will call it a 4th Term and Claim he has already Won 3 and try to discredit the ENTIRE Biden Presidency so the Limits in the Constitution were ALREADY broken

Here is what I don't know

How is he going to deal with Obama? If he convinces people that a 3rd term is possible then the Dems are going to Call on Obama to Oppose him. I THINK Obama might take them up and do just that.

I very afraid that at some Point Trump is going to blame 2020 on Obama and Try to Jail Him over it so that Dems don't have the option to tap Obama for a 3rd term.

This is where the war will start

If Trump jails Obama and announces an attempt at a third term, there is absolutely no reason the Dems lose the option of running him from jail.

In fact, that’d be a total baller move and I’d campaign like a Mofo for it because I’ll be retired and have plenty of time on my hands.

I personally don’t think Trump is going to run for a third term. I think he is now trying to set himself up as the “Kingmaker” for the next MAGAstani puppet. Treat the presidency like the Iron Throne with him as the Hand of the King and still run the show from there.

I think on a whole you are right that the majority of people in this country are anti-fascist but there is still a massive group that has been ok with what has happened or have been able to justify it.

On the apperal if it's the normal red white and blue that's way too far. If it's the thin blue line type flags I can see why. I see this as the normal red white and blue and that's just wired. Unless you're one of those weirdos that has everything being the flag. JK.

I have tried to explain to my mom why I am so passionate about this stuff when she goes why think about it if I can't do anything about it.

Many have hit their Breaking Point with Trump to and left him.

There is one specific house in my Neighborhood. It was full on MAGA, dude had things taped to his garage door, entire yard was just full of signs, had flags of Bloody Trump with a fist in the Air and Don't Tread on Me Flags flying together and Every PRO Trump (some very vile) thing you can imagine stapled to his privacy fence. It was the HQ of Deranged Trump Supporter. It has been that way for a few years now.

Guy is a Vet and has a bunch of Veterans for Trump Stuff it was just everywhere

However, Since the last election it has become less and less and less to the Point there was one Trump / Pence Sign and a Veterans for Trump sign. After Minneapolis, there is ONE single sign left to be seen for this guy and it is a sign to Support American Military Troops.

It has been interesting to see this mans outward support of Trump being manifested they way it was and to see where his breaking point was before he tore it all down.

I've never understood how a veteran could have ever been a Trump voter. He is literally always been against them. And was too much of a pauisie to be drafted. I do see more turning but theres a lot more that need to start switching.
