Something seems off about this and I don't know why. Why Epstein and his friends still discussing the payment amounts, disputing payments sent and continuing on paying and even INCREASIGN this guys quarterly payout ......2 YEARS AFTER he says he stopped being a paid consultant for the company ??
Ohio State University Dr. and current Chair of the OB-GYN program at OSU received payments from Jeffrey Epstein
An Ohio State University doctor who newly released records show received thousands of dollars in payments from Jeffrey Epstein and his associates in the early 2000s says he didn't know about Epstein's "criminal activities."
The name of Dr. Mark Landon, an OB-GYN at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and a professor in the College of Medicine, appears several times among the millions of documents recently released by the Department of Justice belonging to Epstein, the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier who for years had power of attorney for New Albany billionaire Les Wexner.
In a statement issued through an OSU Wexner Medical Center spokesperson, Landon told The Dispatch: "I did not provide any clinical care for Jeffrey Epstein or any of his victims. I was a paid consultant for the New York Strategy Group regarding potential biotech investments from 2001 to 2005. I had no knowledge of any criminal activities; I find them reprehensible and I feel terrible for Epstein’s victims."
Landon, an Ohio State faculty member since 1987 and current chair of OSU's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, did not make himself available to answer specific questions. Ohio State declined to comment further.
Landon's payments took place
while Epstein owned property in New Albany.
New York Strategy Group, the organization for whom Landon consulted, was Epstein's money management firm. A former accountant who worked for NYSG described it as "a financial advisory firm servicing high net worth individuals with assets in excess of 1 billion dollars,"
according to Business Insider.
Authorities said Epstein died by suicide in 2019 in a New York jail cell while awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking minors.
The earliest mention of Landon in the Epstein files is on
a FedEx invoice dated July 20, 2001. Landon was sent an overnight envelope a week prior by Darren Indyke, an attorney who worked with Epstein.
There are eight FedEx receipts among the files showing mail sent by Epstein and his associates to Landon between 2001 and 2004. Though some of the documents are redacted, others show Landon received packages at both his former Bexley home and at
an office at Ohio State's Martha Morehouse Outpatient Care on Kenny Road.
While the FedEx invoices don't specify what was inside the envelopes and packages sent to Landon,
a January 2006 email from Indyke to Epstein gives some insight.
"Are we still paying Mark Landon?" Indyke wrote to Epstein "Eric was dealing with this, so I am not sure what was decided when the previous payment was made. Landon's agreement requires quarterly payments of $30k to be made to Landon on the 15th of January, April, July and October. The previous payment made to Landon was for $25,000 and not $30,000. The contract is terminable at will on 15 days' prior notice. Is NYSG to make payment to Landon by January 15th and if so for $25K or $30K? Please advise."
Epstein responded on Jan. 4, 2006: "75 per year."
The email was sent after Landon said his relationship with NYSG had ended.
A memo left for Epstein on April 11, 2005, stated: "Dr. Landon's $25k quarterly payment is due, please approve." Later that day, the same individual followed up with an additional memo making reference to Wexner and his wife, Abigail.
"FYI: on the Dr. Landon quarterly payments, we (NYSG) billed LHW/Abigail in advance as we have in prior years," the memo read.
The
relationship between Wexner and Epstein went back years, with Epstein serving as power of attorney for Wexner until the billionaire founder of Limited Brands said he severed ties in 2007 after
discovering Epstein had stolen hundreds of millions of dollars from him. Abigail Wexner also communicated with Epstein, records show.
"Dr. Landon provided consulting services through the Wexners’ financial advisor for a period of time regarding investments in biotechnology companies," a spokesperson for the Wexners said in a prepared statement.
