Current Board Feelings about the President of the United States

What is your current support level for President Trump?

  • I completely support DJT and am thrilled he is the president.

  • I mostly support DJT and am very glad he is the president.

  • I support most of DJT's policies but am not as supportive of others. I am glad he is the president.

  • I support some of DJT's policies but do not support others. I am "Ok" with him being president.

  • I support a few of DJT's policies but do not support most. I am NOT "Ok" with him being president.

  • I mostly do not support DJT's policies and am NOT happy that he is the president.

  • I do NOT support DJT at all and am concerned that he is president.

  • I despise DJT. He is a risk to the future of our republic and should be removed.

Curious about the overall feelings about the president from those that are on this board. Would like the votes of those that post often, those that post occasionally, and those that only come and take a look but don't generally post (lurkers). To keep all comfortable, the votes are not public.

Early results looking like what I was sort of thinking. This board has essentially become a full-on echo chamber with every poster in agreement about the primary topic and just reading for confirmation. That shows from the posts. But, I was curious if others who support the president were still reading. If so, and they saw this, they decided not to vote.

Hey @GratefulPoke, is a view a unique person or is a view just that someone clicked on the page? If I clicked on this 5 times, is that 5 views or just one since I am the same person?

A view is a refresh or visit to the page. It isn't unique to a single visitor.

I figured there would be a little more support but its not surprising.

Most of the people who are on board with what he is doing aren't posting and have kind of moved on from any actual debate here. Im guessing either because this isn't the type of echo chamber they like or its pretty hard to have a good faith debate with someone when you know you are wrong but just don't want to admit it. Most of the pro-Trump debate is less discussion about the positives of his policies and more reciting talking points or trying to change the subject and anymore most people here who are willing to engage dont get bogged down in that as much as they are used to elsewhere.

Feeling pretty good on not taking any part of the federal process at the moment. Well, since 2008. Feel bad for winning 04’ but Iraq battles were looming large in the near future and changing leadership in the middle would’ve been worse for moral. Now, I d vote against.

Voted against Bush I
Voted against Clinton I and II
Voted against Bush II
Voted FOR Bush II
Voted against Obama I

Would have voted against Obama II, Trump I, Biden, Trump II.

What was your rationale for voting against Obama in 2008?

If I were to do the same thing that would have been the last time I voted for someone, unless you count Gary Johnson in 2012 even though I knew it wasn't going to matter.

Same rationale since my beginning. This isn’t the system that it’s intended to be. With the two party monopolization of it all, I tended to vote minority instead of with the majority. At the very least, I can create stagnation and quagmire.

Even term limits should have term limits to ensure the effectiveness of true representation of the electorate by forcing the discussion every possible opportunity.

There wasn't an answer that adequately reflects my views. I voted one way, and then changed it. The best answer for me would be:

I despise DJT. He is a risk to the future of our republic. But occasionally he gets something right and when he does I will agree with him.

But then again, I would give any president credit if they did something I thought was right. To wit, President Clinton formally apologized for the Tuskegee Syphilis experiment. IMHO, it was the very best thing Clinton ever did, and it was way too long coming.

It's just chaos. What the administration is doing to public health is devastating and be further reaching and longer lasting than any other damage it does.

At this moment:
I would vote for JFK in a heartbeat
I would vote for Bill Clinton
I would vote for Barack Obama
Hell, I might even vote for Hillary

And I have never voted for a Democrat in a national election.

Narrow minded or just hindsight 20/20?

What do you mean?

I didn’t vote for DJT in 2020 or 2024.
I’ve called myself a yellow dog Democrat, but I’ve voted for numerous Republicans at the national level and many more at the state level. IMO far too many people drink the Koolaid of partisanship that leads to tribal thought and rigidity, never questioning their own norms. That check one box for all Democrats or Republicans on the ballot is bad for our democratic republic. First it promotes ignorance of the candidates, and laziness, then it causes lopsided elections that lead to near permanent one party rule. Unchallenged candidates believe they are permanent fixtures, and act like it. I tend to vote for those who represent a more altruistic agenda, others play the late stage capitalism is just a wonderful game to play. One party talks about people, the other mainly money. I’m just trying to understand why I’m so different than most of my friends. By now people should recognize that one party who owns the House, the Senate, the Courts, and the Presidency if willing, can and do things which obviously could lead towards fascism. Words are cheap, every voter should judge their candidates on actions only. What positive fruits has this administration borne? Not much comes to my mind. Glad for your progress.” Welcome patriot,to the fight for our way of life. Teaching for 34 years has “warped “ me. Proud of a life of service in the worst state in the union for education. Carry on.

I've mentioned this a couple of times first on the old board and now on this one. When I was living in Ohio during June or July 2016 I made a trip to Oklahoma and got together with a bunch of my oldest friends, a group of friends that we have been friends together since high school. We are all very conservative. Not all of us were or are Republicans, but we are all very conservative. Well, except for one who was a comedian who is sadly no longer with us and who lived in Denver, but that is another story, but he was not there in my brother's livingroom that day. But there in my brother's livingroom that day is a group of my oldest friends all of whom are on on the Trump train. Except me. And I tried to warn them about him. And they aren't buying it. And I'm getting increasingly frustrated because they aren't buying it. But... slowly... my brother... is finally starting to see what I warned him about. The rest are pretty quiet right now.

I voted for him in 2016, but really that isn't an accurate statement, I voted against Hillary. I would vote for Bill Clinton right now. I still wouldn't vote for Hillary. I must've been half asleep when I said that earlier.

I don’t detest Hillary, but apparently more people worshipped Trump.

If we really want to see him go completely unhinged we need a Jim Halpert type prank where everyone calls him Dan Trump for 48 hours.

It would be hilarious, until a country full of brown people gets rage-bombed.

me thinks tRump can't get over the fact that he can/could only win over a woman (and throw in the fact Hillary received 3 million more votes)...crazy fact: in the last three elections, tRump has been outvoted 222 million to 214 million...AND has won two of them...smh...only in America!

Don't you mean Dan Trump?

If you truly want to see terror on the right, after we sweep the mid-terms start promoting the end of, or alterations to the electoral college. Where Wyoming gets the same number of Senators as California. The right will go apoplectic. California has a population of roughly 39 million. 25 of the least populous states equal about 12 million. IMO there should be a way to protect the minority vote without giving them many more presidents than they’ve earned. The majority of Americans vote for a candidate, then they lose, and the winning party pretends ( EVERY TIME) that they’ve a mandate 🤮
Democrats would have had many more Presidents without it. I’m sick of minority rule. Can’t earn votes through policy, cheat !!!
