Cowboys vs. Baylor

T 4th
*Drew Blake in
3 pitch K looked good
5 pitch non-competitive BB
K swinging
Hard double down LF line; runner holds at 3rd
*Pitching change; Zane Burns in. 2 out runners at 2nd & 3rd
2 RBI single to CF ties it up
Steals 2B. F8 ends it

4-4

He's way late getting the bat out there. Seems to be punching at it, too. Did the same thing earlier in the year. Wasn't even close, then, either. Whatever it is, he's not good at doing what they are asking
Every time they’ve asked him to bunt, it’s to the right field line and it hasn’t worked. I’m saying try something else. I’ve seen him bunt in the fall, kid can bunt. But they need to stop with the directional bunting crap until he figures it out

B 4th
Wallace-E6; again aggressive on bases and he goes to 2nd with the ball in no-man's land. Runner in scoring position with no outs again...

Brueggemann-4-3 soft groundout DOES move the runner to 3rd

Shull-BB

Essex-Squeeze was on twice but 2 failed bunts foul . RBI Single up the middle delivers anyway; Shull holds at 2nd

Thompson-2 RBI double to RCF gap

Ritchie-Another scorched single to RF; Thompson has to hold at 3rd

Meola-F6 in shallow LF; runners have to stay
*Baylor pitching change

Norman-BB; Bases loaded

Smithwick-RBI BB

Wallace-RBI BB; balls 3 & 4 were too close to take IMO but it worked out...

Brueggemann-4-3 groundout

9-4 good guys back on top

T 5th; Tom: "I'd make a deal with you (pitcher) just got 9 runs; you WILL NOT walk the leadoff batter..."
4-3 groundout; Burns obliges...
Single to LF

My ESPN feed getting choppy/failing and I'm F-ing OVER IT. I give up

Essex has no clue how to bunt. Why even try if he has no idea?

I think he actually does..they’re making him directional bunt down the first base line..just let him bunt period

A guy with his speed should be a solid bunter (if not expert). If he ends up in those kinda situations later in the year and still can't get it done I think that's a pretty big indictment of coaching if there ever was one. That's too big a weapon to squander IMO

Burns gave two (pretty weak) hits in the 5th but I thought he threw really well. He was moving the ball around and had good control off his off speed stuff.
