College football playoffs

Good point. And all I’ve heard is talk of wanting to add more campus games.
So they can add more SEC and B1G teams and tilt the board even more in the favor of those two conferences. That’s what all the talk about excluding G5 is about. It isn’t about the quality of the games. It’s about ESPN/ABC/Disney promoting the brand by gate keeping. It’s why losing in the CCG didn’t hurt Alabama, but eliminated BYU.

Tulane beat the ACC champs Duke 34-27 in New Orleans. Texas lost to Florida, who lost to South Florida. Tulane deserved to be there. It would have been great to see that game on a neutral field.

I don't think it works to string out losses like that. Sometimes good teams to lose to bad teams. What matters is the totality of their wins and losses.

In my opinion, the top 16 averaged across good ranking systems should be in the playoffs. That's it. If Tulane wants a piece of that, they should always schedule LSU (or a similar program) and make a good accounting of themselves.

Remember that time Oklahoma got curbstomped my LSU? Lots of teams get destroyed in playoff games so no need to overreact to this weekend.
We already know overreaction is coming. Not even 1/3 through the second year of the 12 team iteration of the CFP and we've made wholesale changes to "address issues" from last year.
No need to overreact is right, but there will definitely be plenty of overreaction and I bet things get changed again.

Especially if the taco breaths run the table. There will be huge change if that happens

Because people over-react to everything where football is concerned.

On Indiana's 20 yard line, Alabama goes for it on 4th and 1.. Indiana easily stifled the play nearly instantaneously. Indiana scored a touchdown lol

In the BCS/CFP era there have been five post-season rematches:
2011: LSU beat Alabama during the regular season. Alabama beat LSU in the 2012 BCS title game
2021: Alabama beat Georgia in the SEC championship game. Georgia beat Alabama in the 2022 CFP championship game
2024: Oregon beat Ohio State in the regular season. Ohio State beat Oregon in the CFP quarterfinal.
2025: Oklahoma beat Alabama in the regular season. Alabama beat Oklahoma in the CFP quarterfinal.
2025: Georgia beat Ole Miss in the regular season. Ole Miss beat Georgia in the CFP semifinal.

There have been no rematches in the BCS/CFP era were the team that won the earlier game also won in the post-season.

What's more, since 1965 there have been 15 times that teams met in the regular seasons and played a rematch in a bowl game. The teams that lost in the regular season are 14-1 in the bowl games.

The CFP committee should take this into account and not schedule rematches in the first round.
