College football playoffs

You've got three things going on: getting into the tournament under the rules, the rules to get in, and the seeding.

Under the current rules, Notre Dame shouldn't get in over Miami. You know who's fault is that Notre Dame didn't get in? Notre Dame. Win your games.

The rules to get in: Clearly flawed that would allow James Madison and Tulane get in before Notre Dame.

The seeding: Weird. Too many rematches.

Nah the rules worked. You take away the top 5 conference championships as AQ's and you will never see another G5 team in again. If you don't believe me ask why an 11-1 BYU wasn't even in the conversation. It won't matter how good the G5 team is, all the committee has to do is keep them around 15 and say SOS matters.

The problem this year was that the ACC found a way to not send its best team to the championship game.

The tie breaker rules that were used to allow a 7-5 crappy Duke team to go to ACC championship game over Miami and an over ranked Alabama team to go to SEC championship game over Ole Miss and aTm is the real culprit. Also, stop with the guarantee bids for a ranked Gof5 team. This isn’t March Madness looking for Cinderella.

There is always good be controversy. 12 is too many, especially if you really aren’t selecting the best 12. IMO, 8 may the right number.
Why systematically keep any team from playing? It’s the same system that kept us out in 2011. You can just “eye test” any team out of it that you want.

If the mid-major conference teams want to play with the big boys, they should schedule bigboy non-conference games and show they belong. Tulane schedule Ole Miss and lost 45-10. James Madison didn't play anybody.

I'm for a 16 team playoff, with the top sixteen based on a formula including wins and strength of schedule. We'll argue about 17 and 18, but all the good teams will be in the tournament.

You mean like South Florida beating Florida who beat Texas?

Tulane 23

Week 2
South Florida 18
Florida 16

Army 24
Kansas State 21

Week 1
Stanford 20
Hawaii 23

Week 2
UCLA 23
UNLV 30

Week 4

So now Norte Dame has a special agreement with the CFP that guarantees them a spot in the Playoff if they rank in the Top 12 (12 team playoff) or Top 13 (14 team playoff)

Are you advocating for a 3 loss South Florida to be in the playoffs because they beat an 8 loss Florida?

The NCAA uses the RPI of teams in other sports. It's one method, but it can be controversial.
No, I’m saying Tulane won their conference over South Florida, who beat Florida, who beat Texas…

We are arguing about 11 and 12 right now. Is it really that different than if we add 4 more? Notre Dame Texas and BYU aren't winning a natty.

If we didn’t have 12 teams the taco breaths would have been left out just like we were in 2011. Read how the national media is saying they bought their team, like Georgia, Indiana and Ohio State didn’t

If we add 4 more we'll be arguing about 17 and 18. That's the nature of the beast. In 2011 we were arguing about #3. In 2023 we were arguing about #5.
