So let me ask you, what will we be doing differently when we start conference play? Every year, since Yurcish left, people say that we "haven't opened up the play book"--just wait until we play the "important" games, and every year, we see the same garbage offense all season. I don't see any other teams doing this; they just run their offense. Look at Kansas; I don't see them playing vanilla to start the season--their offense is a blast to watch--all kinds of creativity. We're not hiding anything; what we've seen thus far is all we got, or at least all we're going to run with any regularity.

Oh, the playbook will definitely be opened!!

I don’t believe half the stuff he says. Have you ever heard of coachspeak? It is misinformation put forth by a coach to mislead the opposition. Sadly, we of the general fandom gobble this stuff up and treat it as gospel. Don’t do that.

I'm sure there is a playbook. But it is like the one in NES Tecmo Bowl, 4 plays: 2 run 2 pass, and dependant on which Direction you press in conjunction with A or B.

Why would we practice plays, alignments etc and not use them? And not just a few of them, lots of changes.

My guess is a more consistent run game today from start to finish. USA will have some success obviously but I think we control the game overall.

By and large, how an offense blocks (on the line) a play has little to do with surprising a defense. Being under center does not change much from a defensive standpoint. Keep drinking the orange Kool-Aid. This offense will be just as bad in week 10 as it is now.

We have used a few of them. But why would we use them when we don’t need them to win the games we have played so far? You need to look at this as a chess match of a season. No need to reveal things before they are needed.
