there's the paradox of conference tournaments....I don't think it's in our best interest to get to Sunday. I'd like to win game 1 versus Tech, but then I don't see where 18 innings come from, without bringing someone back on short rest.

Keisel pitched at the end of game one versus OU so he can go.

You've got:
Bogusz (needs innings)
Keisel
Stebens
Blake
Root
Davis
Benzor
Phillips
Benge (maybe since he didn't last long vs OU)

I'd throw the best combination you can in game one and then let guys like Keisel, Phillips, and Benzor try to go as long as they can.

I'm with ya on the paradox too. We've got enough guys that have seen a good amount of action this season to make an all out kind of effort to win game 1, then after that your seeding probably won't change much so just save guys for regionals. Obviously don't run anyone up to 100+ pitches, but throw your best remaining guys in game 1 today, then throw newbies and/or limit everyone to very short outings and rely on your offense to carry you in game 2 or on Sunday. The bit of a wildcard is that our offense *can* rack up enough runs that we could win this whole thing.

I think it depends how game 1 goes. If you use lets just say 2-3 arms best case scenario, it think its feasible to proceed to game 2 with the comfort of not stretching out your arms too much. That would require guys like a Benzor to pitch well and Brennan Phillips, which he could be the key. He lacks severe confidence right now but you probably have no choice but to throw him today and hope for the best.

All in all, only we winning is literally out slugging Texas Tech, which in this ballpark is going to be a tall task.

Want to add that there's no right answer today pitching wise--if it's Phillips. Fine. The only wrong answer is overworking a guy we will depend on next week.
