Bedlam baseball

Should I be mad at Josh or embarrassed for him? He's so out of touch with reality and has no clue how to start reparing this program. He was given one of the most storied programs in all of college baseball and has the cojones to say $%@# like that to Rex because he was challenged. Rex should ask that same question again but next time change it from "have you lost the players" to "it appears as though you've lost the players".

Maybe signing more 6' 8" players will help?

Listened to the entire show. Definitely no apology whatsoever to Rex, I'm sure Josh feels he said nothing wrong. Lots of the usual excuses early in the show. The travel is tougher in the new Big 12, Tucson was a tough trip, they had travel issues on the way back and were tired on Tuesday. The record is poor because he chose to schedule tough and if he'd done what others had done and scheduled a softer non conference schedule they could have gone 14-2 in non conference and the record would be different.

The discussion on hitting and strikeouts was bizarre because as you said, Josh seemed totally detached from the issue and acted like it was completely out of his control. He talked about how he battled as a player and how he'd like to see the guys do more of that and focus more on making 2-strike contact but it just doesn't happen in today's game. I'd buy that if this year's team was the exception to the rule for Josh's teams but we all know the strikeout numbers are always high and 2-strike contact hasn't seemed to be much of a priority in the last 5+ seasons.

He was a bit defensive at the end, making sure people knew that they've had a lot of damn good teams around here over his tenure and won a lot of games and challenged the fans to be "loyal and true" and keep supporting the team/players.

All in all, pretty status quo from what we've all heard many times from him. He's well spoken and articulate, just wish we'd see some changes in the team's performance.
Good freaking gawd. If this is where the head coach is at then any success the Cowboys have will be IN SPITE of the coaching and not BECAUSE of the coaching. We deserve better.

If (when) Chad doesn’t pull the trigger at the end of the season as every human being with a clue knows he needs to, he’ll be sentencing our baseball program to the same fate as our basketball program. Basketball no longer has any connection or any benefit from the history of Sutton or Iba. if Steve Lutz finds any success (which I am hoping for), it will be totally produced from scratch through his own effort. Any sort of legacy we had has been completely destroyed. We were one of the most storied baseball programs in history with Gary Ward. We were a regular fixture in Omaha. For goodness sake we won 17 Big 8 titles in a row! Teams pissed down their leg just seeing Ward teams in the other dugout. All of that history is gone with no connection to our current or recent teams. It will take somebody creating something good from scratch to ever have that kind of success again and that obviously is not going to come from Josh Holliday! At this point, it would take a David Taylor type statement hire to create the interest necessary for an abrupt turnaround! Short of a Chad Richison funded hire of someone like Tony Vitello or someone of of that level, what we have currently is the new sad irrelevant reality! Again, I'm shocked that the legions of legendary players we’ve had aren’t screaming from the rooftops for change!

Holiday has squandered our heritage

Apples don't fall far from the tree. Hired because he was an alum. Should of hired the best available. Doubt the lesson has been learned though. The brain trust never seems to learn from their mistakes.
