2024 Schedule

No idea why you would schedule that SDSU game. A no win situation facing a perennial FCS power that’s going to spend the entire offseason focusing on one game. Not to mention we don’t have a great track record of playing well in opening games. They are way better than the mediocre FCS Central Arkansas we struggled with this year, and not to mention they bring back a very good Sr QB.
It will never not be hilarious to me how half of our fan base spent most of this last offseason griping that the schedule was boring and not attractive. The other half are here now to lament that we scheduled ourselves into a 1-2 start potentially.

The Jackrabbits will probably have the best QB we will see all year (https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...-to-jackrabbits/ar-AA1o6sMj?ocid=BingNewsSerp).

Utah and KSU games are pickem games and we should be 3-0 going into the Utah game. I expect TCU will have a bounce back year. Them and TTU will push us, but we should win those games.

The teams in the CCG could very well be 7-2 in conference play.
Very surprised Gronowski came back considering he was getting FBS reaching out. SDSU went out and said this years team might be better than last years, but don’t know how you can replace 18 starters on a national champ team and be better the next year.

Jackrabbit fan here. I am really looking forward to the season opener at your place. I haven't spent any time in Stillwater, just driven through on our way to Frisco, TX. It is always fun to check out the big stadiums/atmosphere. As mentioned earlier we lost a lot of seniors. 8 are in NFL camps, 2 drafted. Our defense should be tougher than heck again this year. The offense is the question mark. Our QB is back and he is legit. We've had 2 RBs drafted the last few years. The guys taking their place next year have looked good, but they have big shoes to fill. Our WR are young but talented. We lost a couple of good ones who are in camp with the Texans. Their edge blocking will be missed for sure. The o-line is the big question. We lost three STUDS plus another starter. A tackle, guard and TE are in NFL camps. The coaches have pulled a few guys out of the portal and we had some depth that will move into those starting positions. The season will go the way of the o-line. The good thing is, our D is going to keep us in every game. See you in August. Go Jacks!

Very cool! We'll be glad to have you. I'm certain you'll love the gameday scene in Stillwater. Let us know if you need any recommendations. I'm sure everyone on here will be helpful. You'll be invited to a ton of tailgates for sure!

I have spent the last couple championship weekends in Frisco hanging out with SDSU fans. I can promise you the wonderful hospitality I was shown will be returned in full in Stillwater.

I'm looking forward to the trip to Stillwater. Posters in a couple threads in this forum have noted the Jacks lost 28 seniors. We'll have 18 seniors this fall, all with a lot of experieece. Ringthebells in one of the foregoing posts, discusses some of the personel lost...and those are big losses. But there are those who think this year's SDSU team will be as good or better than the 2023 team.

Sam Herder on the Hero Sports website is probably the non-SDSU guy who is most familiar with the Jackrabbits. Here's a link to Herder's June 3 story "2024 FCS Top 25: No. 1 South Dakota State Football Preview":

Herder's article provides a pretty good summary of returning stars etc. One incoming FBS transfer is Marcus Hicks from Oklahoma. He's a big, talented offensive lineman who fought injury problems at Oklahoma. He has a brother who has been an outstanding tranfer player for SDSU.

I was disappointed when Nebaska dumped the game...pleased that the Cowboys picked it up. Our Missouri Valley Football Conf. rival, ND State, with its spectacular run of national titles, has found it nearly impossible to get on FBS schedules. The Jackrabbits, with our more recent success, are running into the same problem. I expect the game to be a good one that will be well worth the price of admission.

Well it is Nebraska and our embarrassment quotient has been lowered immensely since game 3 last year
