There’s no world, other than the current structure, where anyone can logically argue that ASU & Boise deserve a bye.

Seeds and byes have nothing to do with who is the top 4 teams. It's reward for the performance of the season. You want a bye, then when a conference. Notre Dame will never get a bye, that's their punishment for being an independent.

There's too many teams for the number of games to know who is the best. This is the only time conferences go top v top against each other. Until now, no one really has concrete evidence of who is best. BSU lost by 3 to the #1 seed. Does that not matter? I don't know if they are any good because the only evidence we have against a top team was a close loss.

UGA barely beat GT and has 2 losses but gets the #2 seed because SEC champ. Texas hasn't yet beaten a team that's still ranked. PSU has 2 losses, with a loss to the same team.as BSU by a larger deficit. Notre Dame's best win is Army... I'm gonna stop there.

Ideally the conferences would be balanced and you could just take the top team from each, with each the conference results being play-in for the championship. But they aren't so you cant

Not true, I’ve seen Boise struggle to beat very mediocre teams.

You seem to be confusing getting in the field with getting a bye.

If you believe that Boise deserves a bye over Tennessee or PSU or tOSU, bless your heart.

I sure do. They won their Conference. If those teams want a bye then join an "easier" conference. You keep confusing having a bye with being the better team, again they aren't related, it's a reward for winning a conference.

I'd personally prefer only conference champs in the tournament. Can't be the best team in the country if you aren't the best in your conference with conferences being nearly round robin...but NCAA FB isn't and has never been about finding the best team.

That would be bad news for the Big XII and ACC, 2 SEC and 2 BIG 10 schools or 3 & 1 would get the 4 byes EVERY single year, wether they deserve it or not.

I don’t disagree, & I hate that for our own self interests.

I absolutely love what ASU has done, & I’ve watched Boise struggle to beat weak teams. They’ll get their asses handed to them.

This needs to move to 16 teams and no byes.

But that’s the fallacy with this thinking. The byes aren’t reserved for “best teams” decided by a group of people. They are reserved for the teams that take home a championship trophy at the end of the season.

BIG and SEC won’t get the votes if they try to take this away. All other conferences will tell them to kick rocks.

I don't think the 12 best teams are in the playoff field, but don't finish third in your conference and gripe about not being in the playoffs.
