OSU vs Texas State

No Tv for this game, so it's Rex and the Chief.

Texas St is 3-0, sweeping Binghamton

OSU practiced at DBU's field yesterday, I'm sure a lot of fielding.

Youngerman gets the start, JR RHP. Had a brief appearance on Friday.

"Very disappointing series of events on Sunday. We didn't get two calls, and we followed it up with two bad plays.

I liked that we didn't pack it in. Some other teams did this weekend."

Expect Drew Blake after Youngerman

B1 TSU starting a LHP 1st appearance

Ortiz singles sharply into LF
Meola fouls out to RF
--steals 2nd
Schubart flies out to CF, Ortiz tags
Jones Ks looking

Bruegge hustling double to LCF
Daugherty walks
LaSalle Ks swinging. Couldn't get the bunt down
Thompson robbed of a hit at 1B, runners move up
Smith grounds out to 2B

I wonder what the percentage is of us scoring after getting a lead off double over the last few seasons.

Ortiz K's swinging
Meola singles to LF, solid AB
Schubart lines out to RF
Jones walks on 4 pitches
Brueggeman grounds out to 2B

5 stranded so far

1-0 Texas St

Rex has got to stop saying "there's a shot...." and then "right at the 2nd baseman"

That's 6 K in 5.1 IP so far. I think we can safely conclude this: of course they aren't taught to strike out, BUT, the approach that they are taught leads to an excessive amount of strikeouts, against Texas State. I know that's not breaking news. But again, the staff must not see it as a problem because it never changes.
Definitely a trend over years not just within a game. Is it a reflection of players today, or coaching, or both?
