Cade Is OSU’s Best NBA Player Already

It’s not close.

Dude’s a flat out NBA star -MVP level-and he’s transformed one of the league’s worst franchises into a 1 seed in the East for their second playoff run. And he’s the lone star, the rest is just a well built roster.

Leading Detroit to a 2-0 series lead in the East semifinals. Cade absolutely took over the game in the 4th when it mattered.

No disrespect to Des & others who’ve had laudable NBA careers, but he’s a whole different breed.

Probably not a lot of other people here watching the playoffs, but if you’re looking for something to follow right now, get on board and watch the Pistons.

I think he’s well on his way and has been incredibly impressive in a short time. If he maintains/improves he will definitely be.
Mason was great also.
Just don’t discount Tony Allen; he has his number retired in Memphis and was a major part of the Celtics and Grizzlies while both were very successful.
I agree though, Cade is THE GUY for Detroit.

Fair

Cunningham’s ceiling is SGA-like. And the East is pretty mediocre to the West. If Detroit gets him a little more roster help they should be contenders in the East for a few years.

Starks never finished as high in an MVP race. He was never the best player on a number 1 seed. Starks was never even the best player on his own team. Starks was fricking awesome, love the guy, but Cade is already better.
Agreed.

Not counting the Kurland era, Dumas really the only one I can recall who really had Cade’s elite potential.

Sharks played during Jordan.

Cade is better. But starks did it consistently for years.

That’s LeBron stuff. Dominated a weak east then got pulverized. Then needed an alpha to win him a title.

I think Cade is the unheralded alpha that will be heralded

Richard dumas is the 2nd best player I have witnessed in my lifetime he squandered it. Cade can be that. Move past zeke. Dominique. LeBron. Pippin. Magic. Kareem. Won’t pass Kobe, shaq, or mj

Smart gets the nod in my opinion due to the defensive accolades. Winning DPOY, and being the first guard to win that award in 25+ years is a massive accomplishment. He was first team all three defense three times. Tony Allen was all defensive team three times and second all defensive another three times. I’d put both those guys ahead of Starks as pros. Again Starks was awesome. Cade I think already has a case he’s been a better pro. And I think after it’s all said and done it won’t even be a discussion.

My Mt Rushmore of Poke pros would be Cade, Allen, Smart and then Big Country. Country was pretty good in his short time, definitely better than people remember or give him credit for.

Big Country was a force until his health problems

Cade goes out and has the most boring triple doubles on a nightly basis. Nothing exciting about his all league game.

If you could just inject him with what Marcus has.

Cade can do 95% of what Marcus can do, while Marcus can do about 75% of what Cade can do. You can't win a championship without guys willing to play defense like Marcus, but you can't win one without someone like Cade, either. And guys like Cade only come around once or twice per decade.

I meant that I wish he had more charisma and hustle like Marcus. Marcus is ready to fight everyone in the arena.

Of course Cade is a much better player.
