BYU at OSU

That's a point. If a section was yelling the same thing about Christianity rather than The Latter Day Saints, would the conversation be different?
I don't automatically assume you are sacreligious for saying it, all good. I was just proving a point. Still doesn't change my opinion of what allegedly happened last night.

Sorry friend. If people say bigoted things, then they've owned it. If people say bigoted things, they can't excuse themselves by saying the attacked is claiming victimhood.
I don’t think you understand what bigotry truly is. Bigotry is the condemnation of one’s belief and the intolerance of such views.

No one is saying the LDS religion is incapable of their views or that those religious rights are unacceptable.

Abunch of drunk college kids chanted that ref was biased for sharing views of BYU in context of a basketball game. While it was probably best left unsaid, this was more of joke that alot of people are overreacting too

I hope it's true that the students were not saying what has been reported. But if someone were to express those bigoted views, they can't be justified as a "joke."

I checked a bit - seems someone needs to or will ask the referees:

College referees have the authority to manage fan behavior, including the use of vulgar language, although they generally do not issue a direct technical foul on the crowd itself. Instead, refs are authorized to take action against the home team's coach or institution if spectators use offensive, insulting, or abusive language that disrupts the game.
Here is how referees manage vulgar crowd behavior:
  • Process for Addressing Fans: If a fan is acting inappropriately, the correct procedure is for the referee to notify the home team’s game management/site administrator to have the individual removed.
  • Penalizing the Team: If the behavior continues or is extreme, the referee can, and will, penalize the coach or team. According to established codes of conduct, this often involves:
    1. A warning to the coach to control their fans.
    2. A technical foul assessed to the coach if the behavior continues.
    3. A forfeit of the game if the behavior persists after a technical foul.
  • Rules Focus: The NCAA emphasizes "civility and citizenship" and expects referees to not accept conduct from spectators that would not be tolerated in other educational settings.

I agree that the “f the Mormons” comment is a bad look. But, refs a Mormon comment seems like a joke.
That’s exactly what it was. But BYU coach gets to fabricate a complete BS line, garner headlines and then make a story out of nothing, deflecting away from our best win yet.

It’s as absurd as people’s inability to get past a headline and rush to get their take out in the social sphere, even if it’s a bad/ uninformed one.

Babylon Bee exists for a reason…..

How about fans leave religion out of their chants altogether?

Was at the game and sit opposite baseline from visiting bench.

1) Absolutely heard “Ref’s a Mormon” in 2nd half after the non backcourt call that led to a 3 (probably wasn’t backcourt). And then again a few possessions later when we were hit w the phantom holding foul on the rebound that led to 2 free throws.

2) Also heard Book of Mormon in the first half. Confirmed this w my son.

3) Never heard “F the Mormons.”

With mics all around the arena and teams bringing several social media reps w cameras and mics if this happened it’s on a mic.

For future reference are we not allowed to refer to Kansas as “effKU” in reference to us having to sit ncaa tourney and KU doing worse and having no punishment?

Also going back to Rapelor days of art Briles are we no longer allowed to call them (affectionately) Fake Baptists?
