I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he earns his money at OU. I think the level of coaching was so bad under Nardo, that he was completely demoralized and figured just get it over with. With a good coach and a good defensive scheme, the guy could live up to his potential.

Look at Indiana, a perennial doormat. All it took was finding the right guy, and in year 1, they’re in the CFP. The guy’s brash and bold, and has immediately instilled toughness and a winning attitude.

He basically doesn't give a rat's a** about doing what it takes to get better at this point. He just wants to coast and draw a paycheck. That's it. He was never an X's and O's guy, but he was a good CEO. Now he's not even that.
