2024 12-Team Playoff Prediction

Here is a link to a story I just saw on MSN predicting next seasons 12-teams. Gotta love them having us at number 4 with a first round bye....

Though I definitely want to win the league, the idea that getting another home game could be your consolation prize is pretty awesome. For instance say we are undefeated and lose to Zona in the championship game, we are almost certain to host for round 1.

It is going to be important for the Big12 to get a second team in the play-off and win a game or two.

We need to see some havoc take place in the play-off if the people doing the selection are ever going to get off of the SEC/Big10 are the kings of football trip. Yes, the SEC consistently has a great team and another one or two really good teams, but the mindset that they have 5 or 6 great teams is ludicrous or they would have a better non-con record against P5 and bowl record. Need the SEC and Big10 teams seeded 8-12 to get routed in the play-offs and change the perception of the depth of their conferences.

Hate to say it but, Big XII isn't going to make noise until it wins another natty (maybe two), and annually places multiple teams and starts regularly winning playoff games. Have a long way to go to even catch up to ACC. It's been 18 seasons since Texas won, and in that time SEC won it 13x, ACC 3x, Big Ten 2x.

How many times during that time frame has the conversation been pushed by the networks to limit the championship game to be between a Big 10 and an SEC team? Think 2011 as an example. That limits the opportunities for other conferences to win a championship. With a 12 team playoff, we will see what happens. At least there will be a meaningful conversation.
