It doesn't look like we recruited him out of high school. He had several P5 level offers, but we weren't one of them. I don't think we took a big man in that class because we already had a few on campus.

I saw that they contacted a player that had entered the portal, so they're still trying to recruit. I would assume they're trying to keep the current roster together as well. It will be interesting to see if the next head coach decides to keep any of them on staff.
I would take McDermott in a heartbeat if he wanted to come. Chad would be foolish not to make a phone call to gauge interest.

Thad Matta is an interesting candidate. He retired at Ohio State due to health issues as the all-time winningest coach there. He could be successful here if he's healthy and still has the fire to coach. I would be more excited about him than Alford.
Steve Alford took over a Nevada program that had been to 3 straight NCAA Tournaments, and he missed the NCAA Tournament in his first 3 years. He hasn't really had more successful at his current job than he had at Iowa. There are coaches like Leonard Hamilton & Greg McDermott that improved...
Of all the programs Steve Alford has coached at, Iowa is probably the most comparable to OSU. Would we be happy with this level of success?
