I don’t know if something like this is feasible, but if I’m Doug and I’m in a good spot financially I go to OSU and offer to do the job on a 3 year contract at $1MM per year with me donating most of that back to OSU, with the understanding that if after the initial 3 years OSU likes what they...
Would love to see this for obvious reasons, but one thing I really like is two Big 12 teams getting in. Would love it if the conference could consistently get a minimum two teams in.
Loved rooting against him & Erdmann as a kid because deep down I respected them. Pretty amazing to be a big time college basketball player and good enough to make it to the show. What an athlete. RIP Ryan.
I think that’s already happened to ESPN. They hit rough waters well before Marvel and Disney Theme Parks did. The question is when will it happen to college football?
ESPN definitely wants this. They’ve helped alot of this to happen behind the scenes. Maybe in the end it will be a miscalculation on their part but they clearly believe it’s in their best interest from a business standpoint in the long-term.
I’m sure in the long-term what ESPN wants is all of the valuable brands under one umbrella without paying for the non-valuable ones. If they could get out of that ACC contract and move Clemson & FSU to the SEC they absolutely would. I think the question is whether FSU can find a way legally to...
There will come a point when it will be more beneficial for the ACC to take a payoff and let those schools walk rather than fight it. Since the contract expiration is still 12+ years away that point hasn’t been reached yet. But it’s sort of like being a small market baseball team and having a...
OU isn’t any better than last year. Everyone around them just got worse. They struggled with SMU, Cincy, and UCF (all bad to average teams) before losing to KU (another bad to average team). It’s hard to take that UT win seriously given that it’s a rivalry game and I’m not high on UT anyways.
