Hmm. For some reason I assumed coaching interviews were probably a little more discreet than flights into town with full on tours. I assumed they are sent some type of print package or video package detailing the facilities for them.

He hasn't done much at Nevada. Musselman and Fox accomplished a lot more in Reno than Alford has. It has been fairly unimpressive. Not bad, but nothing that suggests he needs a promotion.

We should be aiming to be in the top 5 in good years and top 9 in down years. I realize the world of NIL might make seasons more prone to seesaw effects, but in generally that is my goal. Be a consistent top 5 Big 12 basketball team or be really damn competitive in that arena.

Alford is more consistent than Ford in the regular season, but at Iowa he didn't do better by a long shot. Alford's run at Nevada isn't exceptional, Musselman & Mark Fox both performed better at Nevada in the same amount of time. We probably won't have any bottomed out seasons like Ford had at...

Nah, he just isn't trying to replicate Travis Ford. If okay regular seasons and first round NCAA exits are the good enough, we never should've fired Ford.

With the ability to flip rosters year-to-year, rebuilding is no longer a 4-5 year job. It is 2-3 max now. Heck, Eddie stepped into a program that sucked for 30 years and went straight to a Sweet 16 in 1991. We talk about wanting to be the "big dog" in the conference now that OU/UT are gone...

There are certainly worse hires. But it is a bunt to advance the runner from 1st to 2nd. I'd rather we take a swing.

Looking at Nevada as well, he has done less there than Eric Musselman or Mark Fox accomplished. His heyday was a good run at New Mexico and his first couple of years at UCLA. He is still a solid coach, but his peak appears past him.
